Las Vegas has produced some of the most bizarre stats in sports history. Some of these are for good reasons, and others are not. The point is, you won’t believe these Las Vegas sports stats!
#5 Las Vegas Golden Knights goalies still rank highly despite the team’s slide

The Las Vegas Golden Knights don’t have much going for them in December 2023. They continue to lose games, get shut out, and have failed to produce any offense. Despite these shortcomings, the Golden Knights still have two of the best goalies in the league.
Adin Hill and Logan Thompson are the bright lights in the darkness. Hill is even the leading goalie in goals allowed average after only giving up 1.96 in 13 games. He also ranks second in save percentage with a total of .933 and second in shutouts. Backup Logan Thompson is eighth in GAA with 2.47.
That might sound like great news, but it’s doing little to help the Golden Knights. The team still has an absurd number of penalty minutes this year, and many are in the negative when it comes to time on the ice. Hill and Thompson can only do so much to keep the team in the game.
#4 Las Vegas Grand Prix saw record viewership

Formula One came to Las Vegas for their street race, and it was an insane spectacle. Fans saw drivers zipping around the Las Vegas Strip at high speeds as they navigated twists and turns.
The event drew a local market rating of 7.4, the highest Formula One has seen in a month. For comparison, the Los Angeles Race drew a 1.5 local rating, and the Canadian Grand Prix drew a 1.7. There’s just something about Las Vegas that attracts high viewership, which was proven here.
It could be that it was a first-time event, but it feels like more than that. It’s like race fans having a hunger for this street race formula. NASCAR even implemented its first street course race in Chicago early in the year, and there were talks of maybe coming to Las Vegas.
#3 The Las Vegas Aces only lost one home game in 2023

The Las Vegas Aces are the best team in the WNBA and proved it by winning the title for a second straight year. This season they honestly had everything, which made it pretty fun to watch as an Aces fan. For example, The Aces only lost six regular season games all year.
The next best record is the New York Liberty with 22-8. Behind them is the Connecticut Suns with a 17-13 record. There’s also the fact that the Aces only lost one home game all season long, which came against the New York Liberty on August 15. That’s when the Aces lost 82-63 to their bitter rivals at Michelob Ultra Stadium.

#2 Kyle Busch broke Richard Petty’s consecutive win streak

Kyle Busch has a habit of making history and has done so again. This time, he passed Richard Petty’s consecutive seasons with a winning record on February 26, 2023, at Auto Club Speedway. The moment in NASCAR history is a major one for the Las Vegas native and only intertwines his legacy further with the legend.
For those wanting an idea of how old this record is, Richard Petty won his first NASCAR Cup Series race in 1960 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Fast Forward to 1977, and he secured the final victory of the streak at Ontario Speedway. This record goes back to the 1960s, and Busch surpassed it!
#1 Jimmy Garopolo and Aidan O’Connell are tied statistically after six starts for Las Vegas Raiders

Aidan O’Connell is a bright young man with a gun for an arm, but that doesn’t mean he is immune to struggles. For example, he is practically tied statistically with Jimmy Garoppolo in the same amount of starts, making for an interesting quarterback situation. The similarities are so bizarre you have to see them to believe them.
The biggest difference is their touchdown-to-interception ratio. O’Connell sits at four to six while Garoppolo is seven to nine. Despite that, the two quarterbacks have some striking similarities. They both have around 1200 yards, around the same completion percentage, and produce about 200 yards per game.
The two have also been sacked 13 times for a loss of 101 yards. Maybe this is just a case of getting used to the NFL, but O’Connell needs to change the narrative if he wants to stay. He has the opportunity of a lifetime with some of the best wide receivers in the NFL. The only thing to do is take advantage and strive to do better than the player they benched.
