‘PARTICLE INK’ Returns – Luxor’s Best Attraction Ever?

Mind-bending combination of art, technology, and performance makes a triumphant move to the Strip…

Beloved funnyman Carrot Top often jokes that LUXOR Hotel and Casino, where he’s performed for nearly nineteen years, is essentially a tomb. The comedian may have a point with exhibits commemorating the sinking of TITANIC, preserved human BODIES, and long-dead KING TUT’. Now, PARTICLE INK is bringing a balance between darkness and light to the pyramid with a new attraction entitled “House of Shattered Prisms“.

In the past few years, we’ve seen plenty of mind-bending, interactive exhibits open in and around the Strip. From iLLUMINARIUM at AREA 15 to PARADOX MUSEUM and DISNEY ANIMATION IMMERSIVE at ARIA, each is exciting and worth a visit. But this writer will stick his neck out to say they all pale next to PARTICLE INK.

In my original review, dated June 7, 2022, I described PARTICLE INK as “living art with an emotion-drenched heart”. Located within a rustic warehouse across from downtown’s exclusive ENGLISH HOTEL, PARTICLE INK: Speed of Dark was a glorious post-COVID celebration of life and balance.

A Particle Ink designer told me that SPEED OF DARK was originally set to open in New York City more than four years ago. Then the shutdown took place and everything was stored away, waiting for the right time and place. NYC’s loss was Sin City’s gain, and the attraction received acclaim, along with numerous extensions. That’s a notable achievement, especially for something this unique and artistic.

After skipping all of 2023, PARTICLE INK is back with a new name…HOUSE OF SHATTERED PRISMS…and a new home at Luxor on the Strip. Located on the resort’s Atrium Level, PARTICLE INK: House of Shattered Prisms is set to capture the imaginations of a new legion of fans.

PARTICLE INK takes advantage of the architecture and furnishings of a former wedding chapel, transforming them into a gateway to the “2.5th Dimension”. Still undergoing inspections by the Fire Marshall at the time of our visit, the attraction is set to open this Saturday the 20th.

VEGAS 411 was invited to an advance peek at the reborn experience. The tour was presented by Jennifer Tuft. She’s the co-CEO and Founder of KALEIDOCO/PARTICLE INK. “We’re very excited when we walk around Luxor and see all these new people we get to bring inside our world”, she stated.

At Ms. Tuft’s side was Cesar Hawas, Chief Experience Officer and Executive Producer. After a brief greeting, we were invited to browse through various chambers. Then it was on to a performance of the opening sequence. Here are a few snippets:

Any concerns that underground-style PARTICLE INK has gone “mainstream” seem unfounded. With its larger budget, easy-access location, glorious technology, and powerful a/c system (a problem in the scorching warehouse), the attraction gains a great deal. Thankfully, its heart, soul, emotions, and “wow factor” remain intact.

One significant change is that PARTICLE INK can now be experienced two ways…in its original form, and as a self-guided journey of discovery. Ms. Tuft explained that every moving panel of art and every display has its own story, things that could have been easily missed if focusing strictly on the actors. Here’s the official explanation:
