Track #4: Big B’s Texas BBQ @W Sahara Ave

“Put Some South In Your Mouth!” That’s the big neon sign you see when entering the fast-casual Big B’s Texas BBQ on Sahara Ave—and it’s hard to resist this invitation, thanks to the seductive smell of the meat that’s being smoked here. Folks on Vegas’ west side are now experiencing what others have been enjoying at the original Henderson location since 2016.
Glad I stopped in to sample their ultra-juicy chicken, baby back ribs, and tri-tip. Most of the meats here are “seasoned with the house dry rub and slow-smoked using Mesquite and Oak,” as noted on the website. All five sides we ordered—potato salad, cole slaw, french fries, baked beans, and the scene-stealing mac & cheese—nicely complemented the meats. Big B’s also serves the Texas-originated Blue Bell ice cream (definitely on the list for my next visit).

The Big B’s space is sprawling, with long picnic style tables, big-as-Texas leather booths, and an adjoining bar (no reservations are required). The decor is creatively down home, with the “wood brought over from family-owned farmland in South Texas.” Look around and you’ll see license plates from all over the country displayed. The piped in music is well-chosen roadhouse country.
A moving tribute. (Image: Vegas 411)
Notably, on the wall here is a memorial piece honoring the 27 Camp Mystic campers and counselors who died recently in the Texas flash flood tragedy. Let it be known—this is a restaurant with a big heart and soul.
