Ready for a trip down memory lane? These are the nine biggest sporting events ever hosted in Las Vegas.
1. 2019 WNBA All-Star game @ Michelob Ultra Arena

The WNBA doesn’t get the respect it deserves, but that somewhat changed in 2019. This happened when the Michelob Ultra Arena at Mandalay Bay hosted the 2019 All-star game for the first time in history. Team Delle Donne defeated team Wilson during the game, which probably wasn’t very fun for Las Vegas fans.
2. 2022 WWE Money in the Bank @ MGM Resort Arena

You know it’s going to be a good time when WWE comes to town, and Money in the Bank is the perfect theme! This was a chance to see who would climb the ladder, retrieve the briefcase, and win a future title opportunity.
The pay-per-view took place at MGM Resort Arena and featured a stacked card. Rising heel star Theory won to the shock of the Las Vegas crowd.
3. 2022 NHL All-Star game @ T-Mobile Arena

Las Vegas received hosting honors for the NHL All-star game at T-Mobile Arena in 2022. This turned out to be another big step in Las Vegas sports history and was a pretty interesting affair. The Metropolitan division even ended up beating the Pacific Division 5-3 in the Finals.
This was a win-win for everyone involved and set the stage for the future of events.

4. 2022 NBA Summer League @ Thomas & Mack Arena
Everything’s bigger in Las Vegas, and that includes the NBA Summer League! While the event is only a preview of what fans can expect for the season, having it in Sin City amps up the energy. The glitz and glamor of it all even got to Lebron James, who is openly advocating for an expansion team in Las Vegas.
The NBA Summer League being held in Las Vegas is a small, but important step in the city’s history. It opens the door to other opportunities with the NBA, like all-star games or G- league events. Anything is possible after this!
5. 2022 NFL Pro Bowl @ Allegiant Stadium

The NFL Pro Bowl came to Las Vegas Nevada in 2022 and made for a great experience. Fifty-six thousand two hundred six people attended the event at Allegiant Stadium and they were not disappointed. How could they be with a giant stadium stacked with amenities?
The AFC would go on to beat the NFC 41-35 in what was an offensive-centered game. What made the experience even better was the fact that the event marked the last time the NFL will ever use the old format. The Pro Bowl will never be the same again after this change, making the Las Vegas game unique.
6. 1993 WrestleMania 9 @ Caesars Palace

This is known as one of the worst WrestleManias in WWE history and it ended up happening at Caesars Palace. 15,891 people packed in to see the outdoor spectacle and boy what a show it was! The pay-per-view is most known for two bizarre incidents. The first is between the Undertaker and Giant Gonzales.
Gonzales came out for the match in only body paint and hairy leggings, leaving him essentially nude. The Undertaker, who usually commands a certain amount of mystique, was reduced to a daytime entrance. The match itself was an absolute crap show that eventually went in the Undertaker’s favor.
The other incident occurred during the main event where Bret “the Hitman” Hart took on Yokozuna for the WWE Title. While Yoko was able to dispatch the Hitman in short order, Hulk Hogan made a surprise return and stole the show. He was instantly allowed to face off in an impromptu title match against Yokozuna, which he won to close the show. Did we mention this is the worst WrestleMania in history?
7. 2012 Indy Car Series championship race @ Las Vegas Motor Speedwa

Indycar CEO, Randy Bernard wanted the perfect race to finish off the 2012 season. This led him to choose Las Vegas Motor Speedway as the series championship race in what had to be the worst decision ever. While sports fans were excited to see the Indycar Series zipping around LVMS at over 200 MPH, it wasn’t very safe.
In fact, an incident occurred 11 laps into that year’s race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, which resulted in a 14-car crash. Multiple drivers walked away with injuries and their cars completely destroyed. Dan Wheldon however wasn’t so lucky. His car got launched into the air during the crash and a flying tire struck him in the head and killed him instantly.
Hours later, the drivers and officials lined up on pit road and completed five pace laps in Wheldon’s honor.
8. 2018 Stanley Cup Finals game @ T-Mobile Arena

Just imagine a first-year expansion team getting to host the Stanley Cup Finals on their own ice. That’s the situation the Las Vegas Golden Knights found themselves in, and it was a hell of a ride. They even won their first Finals game at home making the energy surrounding the playoffs even more vibrant.
Unfortunately for Las Vegas, they eventually fell 4-1 to the Washington Capitals and lost the championship. Getting to host your first Stanley Cup playoff series is pretty special though.
9. 2022 WNBA Finals @ Michelob Ultra Arena

Las Vegas will soon earn more hosting honors, but their biggest so far has to be the WNBA Finals. The Las Vegas Aces ended up winning it all this year after a pretty competitive series against the Connecticut Sun. Want to know the best part? The Aces only lost on their home court once during the playoffs and zero times during the Finals!
Of course, it would have been nice if the Aces got to end the series at home, but picking up a championship on the road is a nice look too.
