5 Moments That Ruined the Las Vegas Raiders' 2019 Season

Let's be honest here. 7-9 isn't going to cut it this year, and the Raiders need to step it up to make the postseason this time. They need to learn from these five key games and use that knowledge to cut down on their mistakes.

1. Coming unglued against the Chiefs

Believe it or not, there was a time in 2019 when the Las Vegas Raiders had the Kansas City Chiefs on the ropes and on the verge of a loss. Now, that might be hard to take in, especially since the Chiefs would go on to win the Superbowl that year, but the Raiders actually finished the first quarter with ten points on the board and a shut out of Kansas City s explosive offense.

Fast-forward to the second quarter, however, and the defense would come unglued, which resulted in giving up 24 unanswered points to the Chiefs.

2. Week seven coming up short against the Texans

The defense coming up short in games is going to be a reoccurring theme on this list and that s exactly what happened in week seven against The Houston Texans. While things were evenly matched between the two teams for the first two quarters, Derek Carr threw a key touchdown in the third quarter to put them up by eight.

Unfortunately for the Raiders, the defense ultimately imploded in the fourth quarter and allowed two touchdowns that essentially lost them the game. Even worse however was the fact that Carr failed to reach the endzone again in the final quarter of the game, which pretty much sealed their fate and handed them another loss.

3. Week 11 blown out by the Jets

How did the Las Vegas Raiders end up losing to one of the worst offenses in the entire league you might be asking? Well, the first problem was that Derek Carr and Josh Jacobs just couldn t seem to find any kind of rhythm throughout this game and went scoreless. As if that wasn t bad enough, The Jets cut-up the Raiders defense for over 500 yards and three touchdowns.

In the end, this just wasn t a game that the Raiders should have lost and somehow, they ended up getting blown out!

4. Week 14 outplayed by the Jaguars

There is absolutely no excuse to lose to a team that was very much in rebuilding mode and dealing with several injured players in the process. Think about it! The Las Vegas Raiders were literally up 16-3 at halftime and somehow the Jaguars came back with two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to squeak out a win over them.

Unfortunately for The Raiders, they ended up losing 20-16

5. Week 17 choking against the Broncos

Although the Las Vegas Raiders lost most of their games due to the defense's inability to keep other teams out of the endzone, this game went the exact opposite way. In fact, the Raiders only managed 3 points in three quarters during that game and followed that up with two touchdowns. The Raiders would have won the game if they managed to get the two-point conversion, but ultimately failed.

In the end, this is just not a game that the Raiders should have lost. They already beat The Broncos by seven points the last time they met, and while they didn t have Josh Jacobs this time around, they still should have been able to rely on Carr to get them to victory. Think about it! Carr had three quarters he could have scored in during this game and couldn t manage a touchdown until the fourth quarter?

That s what pretty much cost the team a chance at the playoffs and could in the future if Vegas doesn't find weapons for Carr to utilize.
