Is Las Vegas an Expensive Trip?

When people realize that I’m from Vegas, they ask two questions.

One- is Las Vegas expensive? Two- how much do I need to save for a trip to Las Vegas?

Well, let’s break it down. From my calculations, the average cost for a solo traveler who wants to splurge for a 7-day trip is $1,505. A couple might spend close to $4,000 over 7 days. You can go cheaper, but you won’t see shows or eat at the most iconic restaurants.

The Cheapest Time to Visit Las Vegas

  • January 15 to March 4
  • May 21 to June 3
  • August 13 to December 9 (except the week of November 26).

The absolute cheapest time to vacation in Sin City is usually mid to late September.

Are Las Vegas Hotels Expensive?

It depends on your budget. Yes, there are expensive hotels in Las Vegas. For example, you can pay $2,600+ for 7 nights in the Cosmopolitan. Or, save your money and stay at a place like Circus Circus or the Excalibur, where the same week costs $764.

How are the Food Prices in Las Vegas?

Las Vegas has many options for food. The cost of food can range from being incredibly cheap to being very expensive. You can spend as little as $30 per day if you stick to fast food and cheap eats. If you prefer fancier spots, budget $200 – 300.

Transport in Las Vegas

I don’t think that the cost of transport in Las Vegas is really a thing to worry about when you visit. Whether exploring the hotels and casinos on the Strip or visiting attractions like the Red Rock Canyon, transport is very affordable.

You have many options, like the Deuce Bus, which can cost between $8 and $20. That bus travels up and down the Strip. The RTC Bus costs $1-$2 per trip if you need to get anywhere else in the city. If you’re willing to spend money, it’s easy to find a rideshare 24/7.
