A Guide To Getting Married in Sin City

Legal Requirements

Las Vegas is an appealing destination for couples who want to get married and get their marriage certificate on the same day. The Clark County Marriage License Bureau issues the marriage certificates. The county clerk requests that couples planning to get married in Vegas should preregister for their marriage certificate on the bureau’s website. Pre-registering makes it easy for one to collect their marriage license at the Clark County Marriage License Bureau’s office.

Clark County Marriage License Bureau

Address: 201 E. Clark Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89101 (Northwest corner of 3rd Street and Clark)

Phone number: +1 702-671-0600

You can preregister for the Nevada marriage licenses as early as 60 days before your wedding. Couples opting for instantaneous marriages can still make an impromptu appearance at the Bureau’s office and apply for their marriage license.

Rules

The Clark County Marriage License Bureau’s offices are open daily from 8 am to midnight. When applying for a marriage license to get married in Vegas, you need to have the following documents and details:

  • The documents showing proof of age must be government-issued, like a driver’s license and official ID.
  • US citizens need to know their social security numbers.
  • The marriage license application fee ($102) is paid in cash, debit, or credit card.
  • Divorced applicants should provide details about the divorce, like the month, day, year, and location where the divorce was finalized.
  • Widowed applicants need to provide details on when they were widowed; month, day, year, and location (city & state).

The couples shouldn’t be nearer to kin than cousins of half-blood or second cousins. Applicants 17 years old and residents of Clark County can apply for a court order from a Nevada District Court Judge. The court order will give the legal freedom to apply for a marriage license.

You can apply for a Nevada marriage license if you meet the above simple qualifications. It’s essential to ensure your names are written correctly during the application to avoid possible legal issues in the future. In case you are making a physical application, you and your partner must show up at the Clark County Marriage License Bureau’s offices. However, the Clark County Marriage License Bureau gives an exception for couples to physically apply for a marriage license if one of the partners is a hospitalized or incarcerated applicant.

The marriage license must be picked in person by either applicant.
