Retro-rock hybrid production goes full-scale after two “unplugged” performances…
Update 5/1/24
After two successful performances of RECKLESS IN VEGAS: Unplugged at downtown’s NOTORIETY, the full-scale production of RECKLESS will return on May 18th. This means showgirls, dancers, electric guitars, amplifiers, trombones, trumpets, and plenty of plugged-in rock. Frontman Michael Shapiro provided this information to VEGAS 411:

Check out the photo above. So much is going on there. Two glamorous Vegas showgirls are flanking a smirking stud. Michael Shapiro is the man in the middle, and it looks like he’s keeping a secret. But the word has gotten out…popular band RECKLESS IN VEGAS has split…just not in the way you might think.
RECKLESS IN VEGAS has become a bit of a Sin City institution. From special-event performances to a lengthy stint at Sahara Las Vegas, the retro-rock hybrid has entertained thousands. Now it’s back with a full slate of shows, but things will be a little bit different going forward.
The idea behind RECKLESS is to give a modern rock twist to songs from the golden era of Las Vegas. Or as I described it, “Dangerous Riffs Meet Vintage Swagger”. The concept is inspired and brings generations of music fans together. You can get the whole RECKLESS IN VEGAS story by checking out this article, which I penned for CHIC COMPASS Magazine.
Creator and lead singer Michael Shapiro constantly innovates to make his production better and more Vegas-y. During the original Sahara residency, he added a horn section with standout brass player/vocalist Kevin Mullinax in the mix. The result? Even more funk, jazz, soul, rock, and fun.
Next, Shapiro stripped RECKLESS down to an “unplugged” format. The acoustic version was well received by fans and newbies alike. When the original format returned to Sahara, adding muscleman singer/musician Andrew Diessner (above) to the group raised the bar even higher.
One thing that hasn’t changed is the line-up of amazing female guests. RECKLESS IN VEGAS has collaborated with stars like Rumer Willis, Kelly Clinton-Holmes, Niki Scalera, Elyzabeth Diaga (QUEENS OF ROCK), and Anne Martinez (Bat Out of Hell).
Since the acoustic performances were so successful, RECKLESS will be presenting both versions throughout the coming year. Shapiro has been plugging away on the media circuit, promoting upcoming dates on Ron Garrett‘s VEGAS LIVE ENTERTAINMENT RADIO and A LITTLE LAVENDER, the new podcast he hosts with Kevin Sucher (The Docksiders).
Audience favorite Kelly Vohnn (above) will be the special guest when RECKLESS IN VEGAS: Unplugged comes to NOTORIETY on March 23rd. You can get your tickets by heading here.
