Musical angel shares her talents for the betterment of us all…
A familiar trope in comic books and fantasy films is the “hidden race of superbeings”. Woven throughout society, these secret heroes blend into our everyday lives while quietly striving to elevate us as a whole. Think HIGHLANDER, THE ETERNALS, and to some degree, X-MEN.
Vegas has its own hidden civilization of heroes and heroines. We call them “local entertainers”, but they’re much more than that. Just because local entertainers aren’t recognized on a global level doesn’t mean they are any less stellar. Unlike the resident artists who fly in for a few shows per month, the performers who call Sin City “home” are at it nearly every night.
Singing, dancing, acting, and doing charitable work in between, they selflessly elevate their craft and make us better as a result. The beautifully talented Sandy Knights is one such undercover hero.
If you don’t live in the city or rarely venture beyond large Strip arenas, you might not have heard of Sandy. But for those of us in the know, she is a true angel…and a tower of talent. And as her most recent schedule (above) demonstrates, she performs all over the valley.
Sandy describes herself as the love child of Steven Tyler and a dream catcher…a singer, dancer, actress, comedian, and hobby collector. She’s also a dedicated animal lover.
I first encountered Ms. Knights in 2019 when she was performing in VEGAS GONE COUNTRY. The V Theater production at Planet Hollywood featured recreations of country superstars like my pal Adam D. Tucker‘s spot-on “Tim McGraw”. Sandy was somewhat new in town and presented a convincing Shania Twain in all her sexy glory.
Although VEGAS GONE COUNTRY didn’t last, Ms. Knights settled nicely into our entertainment scene. She was soon everywhere, from lounges and special events to charity fundraisers and featured showcases.
It’s really no surprise that the California native was quickly embraced by her Vegas peers. As part of the band WHISKEY MAIDEN, Sandy took front and center in Sin City’s live music culture. Having a background of twenty productions and sharing the stage with celebs like Toby Keith and Big & Rich certainly didn’t hurt.
When shows were shut down between 2020 and 2021, you could still find Ms. Knights at DON’T TELL MAMA, entertaining with everything from awesome standards to power ballads and rock anthems. In the above clip, she covers Alanis Morrisett’s “IRONIC” with Colte Julian (MILLION DOLLAR PIANO) on the keyboards.
Fans of Sandy can often find her at Tuscany Suites and Casino, belting out hits with Kenny Davidsen at his Friday night CELEBRITY PIANO BAR. Now Sandy will be settling into her own residency at Tuscany’s PIAZZA LOUNGE. She joins a powerful line-up that includes Ashley Fuller, Craig Canter, Rita Lim, and AGT winner Michael Grimm.
Scheduled every first and third Thursday of the month, Sandy Knights will take to the stage at 7:30 pm and continue until 11 pm.
“I will be performing with a full band under the Musical Direction of David Ramirez along with musical geniuses Keith Neal & Bill Pearce. Join us for a variety of music featuring Jazz, Country, Rock & Pop. There’s something for everybody!”
Tuscany Suites and Casino is located at 255 E. Flamingo Road. Admission to Piazza Lounge is complimentary. Guests must be 21 and over. For more information on Sandy Knights, visit her Facebook page or official website.
