PhotoDump RoundUp – Week Ending 6/14/25

A Wild West brothel, the “Opera Boy” from America’s Got Talent, and a trip to an outdoor movie theater make up a quiet yet chaotic week in Sin City…

Have you heard any good news lately? If so, consider yourself fortunate. With a nation in upheaval, few were experiencing the pleasures of Las Vegas. Numerous protesters filled the streets of Downtown and the Strip. Innocent bystanders weren’t safe, as evidenced by the unfair jailing of a Cirque du Soleil clown. Jimmy Slonina’s seventeen-hour ordeal made national headlines.

Fans of “Magic’s Next Rock Star” Caleb Alexander will have to wait a few more weeks…

Even so, we at VEGAS 411 ducked our heads out of hiding to hit a couple of fun spots. Our first was unexpected, as we were scheduled to attend the premiere of Caleb Alexander‘s new MAGIC TAKEOVER at The Griffin. Alas, it was postponed until July 9th due to protests. So Alexander and fellow magician Hollie England (Late Night Magic) joined us for a trip to the Atomic Saloon Show.

ATOMIC SALOON SHOW is located above the atrium waterfall at Venetian Palazzo Resort. On the way in, we caught a cool glimpse of the SPHERE, which was plugging the upcoming Backstreet Boys residency. SPHERE also made a big announcement with The Wizard of Oz, which begins August 28th (get tickets here).

But back to the Atomic Saloon. Spiegelworld‘s sexy Wild West romp is as funny and naughty as ever. Memorable characters, eye-popping acrobatics, crazy crowd interaction, scorching-hot bodies, and a full-on bar brawl make Atomic Saloon Show a must-see.

Outdoor Movies at WEST WIND DRIVE-IN

Sure, we’ve covered it before, but give us a break. When you’ve had this maddening of a week, comforting things are worth revisiting. So we were off to see the new HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON at West Wind Las Vegas Drive-In Theater.

The expense, hassles, bad behavior, and crowds have driven millions to skip theaters in favor of at-home viewing. But when you don’t want to wait for the latest blockbuster to hit streaming, head to the West Wind Drive-In. Open seven days a week, the six-screen outdoor theater complex is a perfect alternative for families on a budget…or romantic dates.

Pay at the gate, drive to the numbered screen for your selected title, tune the car’s radio to the appropriate frequency, and enjoy a movie experience that YOU control. Temperature and volume are at your discretion. Park as close or as far away from the screen (and others) as you desire. Feel free to smoke, too (alcohol and marijuana are prohibited).

Arrive early for the best parking spot and to satisfy your appetite. West Wind‘s old-fashioned Snack Bar is packed with hot foods, cold drinks, ice cream, nachos, hot dogs, burgers, and more. Their popcorn may be the best in the Valley, and large orders get a free refill. There’s a small playground outside, and restrooms are centrally located to all six movie screens.

Despite its retro business model, West Wind offers modern conveniences such as online ticketing and Laser Extreme projection on its largest screen. The Movie Perks subscription club provides food discounts, a points program, and one free movie per month. You can even order snacks and beverages in advance.

WEST WIND Drive-In Theater is located at 4150 W. Carey Avenue in North Las Vegas. Click here for showtimes, tickets, and more information.

DANIEL EMMET at The Space

Simon Cowell may have called him “Opera Boy”, but to many, he’s Sin City’s Favorite Young Son. Daniel Emmet has gone from competing on America’s Got Talent to touring with David Foster, Marie Osmond, Pia Toscano, and Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

Last Friday and Saturday, Emmet performed at The Space. It was a nostalgic return to the location of his first Las Vegas show. Since then, Daniel has appeared in Cocktail Cabaret, in addition to numerous concerts at Westgate’s International Theater.

Emmet’s setlist was packed with crooner classics, ballads, a little Josh Groban, some Michael Buble, and a whole lotta James Bond. The native Las Vegan briefly played the violin and debuted his new single “Faithfully” for the first time in front of a live audience.

Daniel’s opening artist was Adelaide, another Las Vegas native. Unfortunately, this writer found the young lady’s appearance to be lifeless and drab…especially when she returned for a solo spot in the middle of Emmet’s setlist. You could feel the energy drain from the room. Thankfully, the slowdown was brief.
