The biggest Vegas trend since resort fees is everywhere…and way more fun than $30 cocktails.
UPDATE 4/2/25 – We have learned that Brunch of Broken Dreams has been rebranded. A more upbeat title of PUNK ROCK BRUNCH – Hits of the 90s and Y2K is its new title. According to the producers, PUNK ROCK BRUNCH is the “Same cast, same show, new name!”. Learn more here.
You may have noticed that brunch shows have been everywhere lately. They’re economical, time efficient (one-stop dining and entertainment), and especially appealing to those who prefer evenings at home. Along with the ever-popular drag brunches, we’ve seen the emergence of brunches dedicated to Motown hits, gospel favorites, variety acts, and pop music. Here are a few of the latest.
MOTOWN BRUNCH at Ahern Hotel
MOTOWN BRUNCH may have opened up this summer, but it keeps growing and getting even more exciting. After selling out consistently week after week, the show was relocated from Ahern Live Showroom to the larger, more luxurious Joel’s Chophouse.
Performers EC Adams, Patrice Petway (Flashback), JR Phelps, and Ariel Knight provide vibrant vocals to accompany a menu curated by Chef Joel Ott. The show is a soul sister to ALL MOTOWN, the long-running hit at Modern Showrooms. Click here for menu, schedule, and tickets.
BOYBAND REMIX BRUNCH at The Composers Room
David Nicoll is a bit of an unsung hero. The Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter/dancer/host almost single-handedly keeps the 90s boyband era alive. Having written two songs for N’SYNC, Nicoll was deeply entrenched in that world, collaborating with artists like Aaron Carter and numerous pop music groups.
The former Chippendale dancer hosts the uproarious Karaoke A Go-Go at The Composers Room on Monday nights. And on select Sunday afternoons, it’s BOYBAND REMIX BRUNCH at the same location. It’s as fun and campy as it sounds.
Nicoll has assembled a sizzling group of young men who go by the name ‘BOYBAND REMIX‘, of course! Smooth moves, soulful vocals, authentically cheesy costumes, and chiseled abs are included in the “remix”, along with specialty cocktails, bottomless mimosa add-ons, and the greatest hits of the period.
BOYBAND REMIX BRUNCH performs at noon on select Saturdays at The Composers Room. Click here for more information, schedule, and tickets.
Brunch of Broken Dreams
Also performed at The Composers Room, Brunch of Broken Dreams covers rock music from the nineties into the early 2000s. Packed with hot chicks and sizzling studs, this production promises “a wild ride of nostalgia, laughs, acrobatics, singing, dancing, and all your favorite throwbacks.”
“Whether you’re a die-hard Green Day fan lamenting the radio ban or just someone who appreciates the irony of fine-dining-meets-punk-rock, this brunch is your chance to stick it to the man by eating pancakes. Nothing says “anarchy” quite like syrup-soaked rebellion.” – Staci Layne, VEGAS 411
Emcee Brandon Jackson (of BOYBAND REMIX) and dance captain Lindsay Nicolee lead a young, attractive cast through a fast-moving collection of favorites. You can read the full review by VEGAS 411 correspondent Staci Layne right here. Along with Brandon Jackson, the show shares the same glorious buffet as BOYBAND REMIX BRUNCH, and we have the pics.
BRUNCH OF BROKEN DREAMS performs at 11 am on select Saturdays at The Composers Room. Doors open at 10 am. Click here for more information, schedule, and tickets.
The Composers Room Celebrates One Year
In addition to recurring shows, featured ticketed performances, free tavern entertainment, and a gospel brunch, The Composers Room has plenty to celebrate this season. A fledgling venue in the Historic Commercial Center, The Composers Room celebrated its first year of operations on November 19th.
That evening, founder Damian Costa was awarded a key to the Las Vegas Strip during Keith Thompson’s Piano Party. Celebrities were on hand as Costa accepted a proclamation from Clark County representatives Tig Segerblom, Marcelo Erosa, and Lynn Goya. Costa offered thanks and restated his commitment to providing a home for the city’s entertainers.
The multi-purpose venue, which includes two performance rooms, a full bar, and a restaurant, recently added gaming to the bar area. Historic Commercial Center has been the focus of renewed excitement and continues to improve and update. New businesses, 24/7 security, and renovations will continue with The Composers Room at its heart. Historic Commercial Center is located at 953 East Sahara Avenue.
DUST Drag Brunch
Sin City’s latest LGBTQ club is DUST Las Vegas. Located in an art deco shopping center on East Twain Avenue, DUST LAS VEGAS is a throwback to gay bars of the late 1980s: raunchy nights, wild performances, dark corners, and great prices.
With the recent closures of gay spots like The Eagle, Charlie’s, Freezone, and The Garden, Dust Las Vegas is a welcome addition to the scene. The club is open daily until 2 am, opening times vary. Check the schedule here.
“A neighborhood bar by day and nightclub by night! Amazing entertainment with drag, singers, burlesque, and super sexy gogos. Come be a part of the Dust family…”
After a wild Saturday night, the atmosphere at DUST lightens up on Sunday mornings for its weekly INFAMOUS SUNDAY Drag Brunch. VEGAS 411 attended on November 17th during the unveiling of a new brunch menu.
Locals and visitors alike will delight in INFAMOUS SUNDAY DRAG BRUNCH. Free parking, easy access, no admission charge, drink bargains, and a 21+ age requirement ensure a rollicking adults-only time that is easy on the wallet, ears, eyes, and other senses.
Over-the-top costumes, popular songs, a laid-back atmosphere, and terrific service help set this show apart. Every dish we sampled was delicious…just like the snarky jabs and wink-wink humor from a quartet of seasoned drag professionals. Seating begins each Sunday at noon. Showtime is 1 pm.
During the performance we attended, host Ginger Grant welcomed characterizations from Sylva Luz Ambers, Chyna Nicole, Diva Toxxx, and stunning vocalist Ada Vox (below). The entertainment line-up varies from week to week. Check the DUST Facebook page for a list of upcoming performers.
Other happenings at DUST Las Vegas include CALIENTE Latin Night and other themed evenings, fundraisers, comedy and musical variety, karaoke, and lots more. Click here for a list of upcoming events. DUST Las Vegas is located at 855 E. Twain Avenue, just a few blocks east of the SPHERE.
HAMBURGER MARY’S DRAG YOUR sASS To BRUNCH
It wasn’t long ago that former VEGAS 411 correspondent Clay Bushes declared an over-saturation of drag shows. Her scathing editorial, available here, predicted that “all fads eventually crash and burn.” In the ensuing time, we’ve witnessed the demise of FAAABULOUS Drag Brunch, The Garden’s Bottomless Brunch, A Whole Brunch of Queens at Art Houz Theater, and Frank Marino’s Red Carpet Brunch at Westgate Las Vegas.
The Las Vegas rumor mill is reporting an imminent closure of Senor Frog’s at Treasure Island Resort. If true, this would mean that long-running Voss Events DRAG BRUNCH queens would be out on their wigs. The truth remains to be seen, but in the meantime, drag fans have already discovered an off-Strip alternative.
Hamburger Mary’s ‘Drag Your sAss to Brunch’ performs at noon on Saturdays and Sundays, with an additional Saturday show at 2:30 pm. Prices range from $29 for show-only bar seating to $59 for a VIP option which includes an entree, booth seating, and a photo with the cast.
A full menu and bar service is available before and during the show, along with beverage add-ons to your ticket. During the November 9th performance this writer attended, the audience was rowdy, happy, and ready to return.
A long line of guests waiting for Uber/Lyft rides after the show suggests that Hamburger Mary’s Drag Brunch attracts tourists, locals, and those without designated drivers (insert chuckle here). And since much of the fun involves getting boozy, let loose and have a blast.
Prime beef may be returning to Hamburger Mary’s Las Vegas
Prior to COVID, Hamburger Mary’s Las Vegas was as much a burger joint as a drag performance club. These days, the offbeat spot has traded big beef for big broads, but that may soon change. The success of Drag Your sAss to Brunch may pave the way for Hamburger Mary’s to return to its original format. Stay tuned!
Hamburger Mary’s Las Vegas is located at 1700 E. Flamingo Road, a few minutes east of the Las Vegas Strip. You can get more information or make show reservations/purchase tickets by following this link.
