Honorees to Shine at ‘Señoras of Excellence, Señores of Distinction’ Gala

Spring has sprung, and with it comes award ceremoniess, fundraisers, and other charitable events. The warmer weather inspires residents to honor those who improve our community and raise funds for continued efforts. You can add the annual Señoras of Excellence Señores of Distinction Awards to this season’s list of galas.

We’ve already seen the Vegas Icon Visionary Awards (VIVA), AFAN’S AIDS Walk, and “Wine, Women, and Shoes” on behalf of St. Judes Ranch for Children. And we’ve told you about two exciting benefit shows centered around the 104th birthday of legendary Liberace (here and here).

Señoras of Excellence Señores of Distinction Awards benefits the Latin Chamber of Commerce scholarship fund. An evening of fine dining, entertainment, libations, and dancing will honor men and women who have dedicated themselves to bettering the lives of our city’s Latin population. The gathering simultaneously celebrates the legacy of Sandy Peltyn, namesake of the Sandy Peltyn Foundation for Excellence.

The Sandy Peltyn Foundation‘s mission is “to continue the legacy of our late founder by bringing together community-minded persons who are motivated to participate in charitable events that will benefit continuing education opportunities for high school students.” It does so by providing scholarships for candidates who would otherwise lack the financial resources to pursue higher education.

Ms. Peltyn was a Las Vegas singer and headliner who came from San Juan, Puerto Rico. She and her structural engineer husband Roger Peltyn were instrumental in the success of Wynn Resort, Caesars Palace, Venetian, and Paris Hotels. Sandy was appointed to the St. Rose-Dignity Health Executive Board and Foundation Board and most recently served on the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners.

For her humanitarian work, Ms. Peltyn was knighted as “Dame of Grace” for the Order of St. John. Dame Petlyn passed away in late 2018, yet her legacy continues on through the foundation bearing her name.

The Señoras of Excellence Señores of Distinction are men and women who support the educational growth of
young Latinos. The 2023 edition selected recipients for their dedication and contribution of time and effort to the  betterment of our Las Vegas community. This year’s honorees are as follows:

The Señoras of Excellence Señores of Distinction event takes place Saturday, June 17th at Westgate Las Vegas. A cocktail reception begins at 6:30 pm, followed by dinner, the awards ceremony, entertainment, and an exciting live auction. Tickets for this very special benefit are $500.
