Barry Manilow isn’t the only performer setting Vegas records this month…
During the weekend of September 21st, 2023, singer Barry Manilow will surpass the number of shows performed by Elvis Presley at the former Las Vegas Hilton (now known as Westgate Resort). Two weeks earlier, entertainer Wes Winters will reach his own significant milestone. He may not be a household name or have fifteen #1 songs in his discography, but Winters shares plenty in common with the Westgate superstar.
Like the “Mandy” singer, Wes Winters has enjoyed a lengthy career in Sin City. His devoted fan base comes weekly to enjoy performances at South Point Hotel, Casino, and Spa. The singer, songwriter, musician, and showman is a master of the piano. His songbook spans genres and decades, appealing to all ages. Winters brings people together and sends them into the evening with a song in their hearts.
This month marks thirty-six years that Winters has been entertaining professionally. He began in his hometown of Kansas City, Kansas, playing to audiences nonstop for seventeen years. Las Vegas welcomed him in 2003, and Winters made an indelible mark thanks to an original production he created.
“A Musical Tribute to Liberace” evolved from Winters’ passion for the Vegas piano legend, and it became a five-year engagement at the Liberace Museum. His residency was such a success that the museum’s performance venue was renamed “The Wes Winters Showroom”. Later, “A Musical Tribute to Liberace” moved to Planet Hollywood Resort on the Strip.
In the spring of 2011, Wes became a staple at South Point’s “Grandview Lounge”, a new spot for talent that quickly became the entertainer’s home base. His success begat “Wes Winters Live“, a real-time streaming show that airs on Facebook every Friday at 7 pm PST. You can view over one hundred previous editions through the Wes Winters Live YouTube channel. Here’s a recent installment:
Now, more than twelve years later, Wes Winters will be celebrating his 1,000th performance at the very popular resort. Saturday, September 9th, is the date, and the evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a red carpet event. Showtime is 6 pm, and guests can enjoy cake and champagne to commemorate the very special occasion.
South Point Hotel, Casino, and Spa continues to be a haven for great entertainment. Wes Winters is part of a family that includes The Dennis Bono Show, The Bronx Wanderers, Rita Rudner, The Righteous Brothers, and recurring guests like Chris Ruggiero, Mark O’Toole, and Sheena Easton. The Spazmatics just celebrated fifteen years there and continue to go strong.
