Comedian ‘MURRAY HILL’ Heads to Plaza Hotel

MAVERICKS’ Miss Behave presents a one-night stand with TV’s favorite “drag king”…

When you enter the doors of the vintage showroom at downtown’s PLAZA HOTEL, you’re always prepared for something unique. This is, after all, the place where NUDES ON ICE once performed. Miss Behave’s MAVERICKS has been packing the theater regularly since opening last fall, and now the creator/host is sharing her stage with another one-of-a-kind entertainer….Murray Hill.

Not one to mince words, Miss Behave made this brief announcement on January 7th.

“Thrilled to announce our first special event. Mr. Showbiz himself, Mr. Murray Hill. One. Night. Only. Vegas, done right. We’ve only just begun. Love live downtown.”

With so much info packed into that statement, this writer hardly needs to add anything. But since we’re paid to provide details, I’ll do my best to colorize Miss Behave’s sepia-toned words before we send this baby to “print”.

Imagine enjoying a performance by a drag king comedian in the same theater where a hula-hoop chicken and ballet-dancing chimp regularly appear. Aren’t those the very things that make Las Vegas unlike any other destination?

Mr. Hill’s bio is quite a fascinating one:

“Murray Hill is an NYC legend, comedian, TV host, MC, and international entertainer. He plays Fred Rococo in HBO’s acclaimed series ‘Somebody Somewhere’. He hosted the competition show ‘Drag Me To Dinner’ (HULU), is featured in ‘Life & Beth’ (HULU) and ‘Welcome to Flatch’ (FOX), and is in Paul Feig’s hit movie ‘JACKPOT’ (Amazon MGM Studios) starring John Cena and Awkwafina. His forthcoming memoir ‘Showbiz! My Life As a Middle-Aged Man’ will be released by Simon & Schuster’s Gallery Books in 2025.”

VEGAS 411 was connected with a representative for Mr. Hill for this feature. They graciously fleshed out the details for his much-anticipated Las Vegas debut on Monday, February 24th:

If the name Melody Sweets rings a bell, it should. The singing burlesque queen starred as the original “Green Fairy” in Spiegelworld’s ABSINTHE beginning fourteen years ago. As for Jordan Katz, the bandleader/trumpeter has worked on many noteworthy projects including The Late Late Show with James Corden and Drop The Mic at TBS network.
“Join the beloved tuxedo-clad comedian, larger-than-life personality, and TV star for an “intimate” (hey, take it easy!) evening of stand-up, shtick, song, rimshots, rampant ad-libbing and crowd work. Mr. Showbiz details his chronic middle-aged crisis, trials and tribulations, botched love affairs, numerous comebacks, and—kinda, finally, almost—“making it” after decades in showbiz.”

“My shows have always paid homage to the great Las Vegas lounge comics, my heroes: Shecky Greene and Don Rickles,” Mr. Hill says about his upcoming performance. “I’ve wanted to do my own show in Vegas forever but never found the perfect room…until now. The Plaza Hotel & Casino Showroom is 100% old-school showbiz, complete with red curtains, banquettes, and lots of booze. It’s truly the ideal home for me and my show.”
Mr. Murray Hill will appear at the historic Plaza Hotel Showroom on February 24th at 8 pm. Doors open at 7:30 pm. Order tickets by clicking here.
