Christine Shebeck – TALES FROM THE SPOTLIGHT

No longer Disney’s Pocahontas, Christine Shebeck aims for the stars…

I’m the poster child for “It’s Never Too Late”. – Christine Shebeck

Christine Shebeck is on an upward trajectory—there’s no question about it. Humble yet confident, the glamorous vocalist bares her soul through music while capturing the heart of Las Vegas. Now, she’s poised to spread her gifts across the nation…and maybe the globe?

With a music-centric family, children, husband, and dedicated friends to support and inspire, Christine is a superstar in the making. Her story proves that it’s never too late to achieve your dreams. VEGAS 411 will be proud to say “we knew her when”…

I sat down with the onetime “Disney Pocahontas” for a conversation that covered her background, motivations, triumphs, trials, and exciting plans. The experience was so gratifying that it became our first VEGAS 411 podcast (via YouTube, below). Thanks to special contributions from Christine Shebeck’s manager, Kevin Sucher. Enjoy!

“I arrived here in 2001 to do a show at Mandalay Bay called STORM. It wasn’t a huge success…(but) really opened a new world for me. I had planned on returning to California, but ended up staying in Las Vegas. I’ve been here ever since.”

“I’m so grateful to my first marriage for my daughter and the life lessons it taught me. The universe knows when it’s time for you to take that step forward. It wasn’t until some very big changes in my life and I met my current husband. I’m in my fifties and having the biggest success I’ve had.”

“We got married in December 2019, then COVID happened in March 2020. Everything shuts down, and it starts making you question things. People are desperately trying just to keep something going. I remember having this big moment with my husband – ‘I still have something to say. I’m not ready for it to be over.’ And it gave me this newfound appreciation of what I do.”

“If a song that moves me, like a ‘guy song’, and I can hear myself doing it, I just want to come from a different approach. That’s when I go to Bill Zappia. I always dreamed of doing ‘VINCENT – Starry Starry Night’ (by Don McLean), but it’s gotta come from me. My experiences. Then I get really passionate and can’t stop until it comes to fruition.”

“People want good, beautiful, larger-than-life music that makes them feel like they’re experiencing or feeling something. They want to be moved by the storytelling of a song. Something to laugh at, to feel part of something. I wanna leave a room better than when I got there.”

Christine Shebeck, a Myron’s favorite and Broadway World Award winner, is back with her fifth original cabaret show specially written for her to share the stage with the multi-faceted singer/instrumentalist/arranger, Naomi Mauro, and R&B recording artist, Rachel Oliver-Cobbin.

Inspired by six decades of the music you love, these women take things to an entirely different level as they masterfully execute arrangements crafted with maestro Bill Zappia. You’ll enjoy music made famous by Roberta Flack, Judy Garland, The Bee Gees, Barbra Streisand, Joni Mitchell, and many more!

Tickets start at $33.40 and can be ordered here. The show is at Myron’s at the Smith Center on June 18th. Showtime is 7 pm.
