Sin City plays host to a trio of Taiwanese superstars on December 24th & 25th…
When the cat’s away, the mice will play. And so it is that while American tourists enjoy egg nog by a yuletide fire, our Asian guests will descend en masse to set Vegas concert halls on fire. Superstar vocalists from Taiwan will hold large-scale performances on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. And it sounds like quite an exciting lineup.
Frequent Vegas visitors know that Chinese New Year Celebrations are a big deal here. Most of the large-scale casinos go all out to decorate and commemorate the lucrative Asian market. We also have a thriving Chinatown on Spring Mountain Road not far from the Strip.
What you may not be aware of is that Asian artists are a huge draw in Sin City year-round. Their targeted advertising and ticketing methods are such that they fly under the radar of non-Asians. They come, they party, and they go. Of course, they sometimes make the news, like when Korean pop sensation BTS brought their “Permission to Dance On Stage” tour to Allegiant Stadium in April.
But did you know that Resorts World, Venetian Theater, and Dolby Live at Park MGM are hosting massive Taiwanese concerts on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day?
A-Lin will be at Venetian Theater on the 24th at 8:30 pm and the 25th at 7 pm. She’ll be promoting her tenth studio album named LINK. Tickets can be purchased by phoning 88 Noodle Papa at 725.251.2078 or clicking here.
The concert, entitled “A-Link with Passengers” kicked off in Singapore this past May. The seventeen-year veteran, who’s known for her bouncy ballads and dance hits, began her career by auditioning for a record company with a Britney Spears song. American fans say she has a style and appeal not unlike Adele’s. At 39 years old, A-Lin has been labeled “the next A-Mei”…
…which brings us to our second featured performer. A-Mei is a multi-award-winning artist whose world tours have set box-office records. The fifty-year-old has been recording albums since 1996 with her debut “Sisters”. Known as the “Queen of Mandopop”, A-Mei’s career could best be likened to Celine Dion’s.
The A-Mei soundscape is one of pop-rock. Her discography consists of nearly twenty studio albums. The latest, entitled STORY THIEF, was nominated for six top awards and won “Best Music Video”. The supporting tour for STORY THIEF consisted of 104 concerts, setting a record for the most shows by a Taiwanese artist for a single tour.
The A-MEI ASMR WORLD TOUR comes to Park MGM’s Dolby Live Theater on December 24th and 25th at 8 pm. Both shows are nearly sold out. You can check for available seats by heading to Ticketmaster via this link.
The lone male of our Taiwan trio is vocalist Aska Yang. A powerful name on the Mandarin pop scene, Yang began his career on the televised singing competition ONE MILLION STAR. With three albums to his credit, the 44-year-old native of China began touring in 2007.
Since obtaining his Master’s Degree in Sports Psychology, Aska Yang has put his musical career on hold a number of times. Like American self-proclaimed “Queen” Madonna, Yang has gained a reputation for being difficult and diva-like, That’s actually limited the number of live shows on his scorecard, making the December 24th appearance at Resorts World a rare treat. Showtime for the ASKA YANG – ONLY LOVE tour is 4 pm and tickets can be ordered here.
