What las Vegas Sports Team Has the Best Chance of Winning a Championship in 2022?

Does a Las Vegas sports team or athlete have a chance at winning a championship in 2022?

What Las Vegas sports team or athlete has the best chance of coming up with a championship in 2022? While the city of Vegas has many amazing sports teams and athletes, that hasn’t yet resulted in the desired hardware. The last time Sin City brought home a title was in 2018 when Kyle Busch captured his second title for Joe Gibbs Racing. Before that, it was Kurt, who would win his first and so far only Cup Series title in 2004. Beyond that, however, Sin City is titleless.

Las Vegas Raiders

With that being said, and a new year here for sports fans to enjoy, which team stands the best chance of bringing a title to Vegas in 2022? As much as some probably want to hear the Las Vegas Raiders will be next to go all the way, the team actually seems the furthest away from doing so of any team. In fact, you could argue that they need several more key pieces in place even to be considered a legitimate title contender.

Kyle and Kurt Busch

Then there are Kyle and Kurt Busch, who are both at interesting points in their career. Kyle  Busch is in his final year with Mars candy company as a sponsor, marking what could be the last time he is even in a place to win a championship. Kurt Busch on the other hand is entering his first of a two-year deal with 23XI Racing and is likely to go through a lot of growing pains in the process. None of this is to say that the Busch brothers can’t win races, or be competitive, but a championship just seems unreasonable with their recent track record.

Las Vegas Golden Knights

We also have the Las Vegas Golden Knights, who seem to be on the verge of a championship nearly every season, but have yet to come up with it. They finished the break with the leading record in their division and are likely to at least make the playoffs barring a late-season implosion. They just don’t seem to have a viable goaltender situation yet, though. Of course, Laurent Brossoit and Robin Lehner have improved greatly since the start of the season, but they haven’t proven themselves yet. They admittedly downgraded when they traded Marc-Andre Fleury to the Chicago Blackhawks and later acquired Brossoit through free agency.

This doesn’t mean the team can’t eventually work, but it is unlikely the duo with get far in their first postseason together. Even with Jack Eichel, Max Pacioretty, Chandler Stephenson, and Alex O’Reilly on the ice. They just don’t have that kind of chemistry yet.

Las Vegas Aces

That brings us to the Las Vegas Aces, who are probably in the best position to finally get that first championship. Not only is that evident by their all-star cast of Liz Cambage, Chelsea Grey, A’ja Wilson, and Kelsey Plum, but also the pieces they could put in place before the season begins. If nothing else, there’s just energy with the Aces right now that shows they are the ones who are the closest to a title. They might even be able to pull one off in 2022.
