Planning is paramount!
While this holds for any trip, it is so much more applicable to Las Vegas! If you’re visiting during the peak of tourist season, you’ll need to plan ahead to make sure that you get to do exactly what you want to do. Want to see an adult show? Well, they typically sell out very quickly, so you’ll want to purchase tickets beforehand. If you’re keen on checking out some of the sights the city has to offer or staying at a particular hotel, the same principle applies as well. We recommend planning at least three months in advance to make sure you’re always first in line and don’t get closed out of something essential to your Vegas experience. Plan ahead and revise your plan regularly as your trip gets closer!
Budget for what you want to do, not what Vegas has to offer!
This next tip is crucial – Vegas, as the entertainment capital of the world, has a ton on display, and it’s easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer number of options that you have. If you’re going to Vegas for a specific reason, make sure to dedicate ample financial resources towards that particular thing. If you’re bent on gambling, for example, make sure to set aside a set amount of money for each day you wish to gamble. Then, try and avoid petty expenses, as these can add up – For example, buying drinks at the casino makes very little sense. For one, they can hinder your ability to gamble correctly! Furthermore, casinos typically offer complementary drinks yo gamblers, so all you need to do is wait ’till someone brings you a glass of champagne!
This applies to all your activities in Vegas as well – If the bulk of your interest happens to be sight-seeing, budget accordingly and try not to spend any money on gambling! In general, plan and budget ahead for what you think you’re going to do – If not, you’ll likely be overwhelmed by the sense of choice that the city has to offer.
Public transportation is your friend!
The city of Las Vegas is deceptively big. The Strip, a 4-mile straight patch of land that houses the casinos, businesses, and most of the tourist-related activities that Vegas has to offer, is very difficult to navigate on foot. It appears simple because the buildings are so tightly packed together, but it is, in fact, a considerable distance to walk. As a result, we recommend planning ahead and using public transportation – the bus and the Monorail are your two primary options. Additionally, many buildings feature air-conditioned walkways between each other, so if you do decide to walk, make sure to take advantage of these!
Take advantage of player’s clubs and loyalty rewards
Many casinos offer loyalty programs, also known as slots clubs or players clubs. These encourage participation and reward players for simply playing the machines, with no initial cost to sign up. If you’re considering visiting a casino and playing slots, we highly recommend signing up for these programs. Usually, these rewards include things like a small number of tokens for free, free rooms (or discounted ones, depending on how much of a “high roller” you are!), and free drinks or food. These are considered complementary ways in which casinos hold on to customers, so make full use of these things during your time in Vegas.
Enjoy the great outdoors
While this isn’t necessarily a quintessential Vegas experience in the traditional sense, we do believe that seeing the natural Nevada outdoors in all its unhampered beauty is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. With peaks and canyons galore, you can go off the beaten path and make your own adventure here. Additionally, you can also visit and explore Red Rock National Conservation Area, Lake Mead, Goldstrike Canyon, and many more natural wonders in the area. These all make for great fun in large groups and are a perfect daytime activity during your time in Las Vegas. Consider paying them a visit when in Vegas.
Make the Strip your home base! –
When in Rome, do as the Romans do. In Vegas, gambling is not only legal but is almost everywhere – hotels, clubs, bars, and the Strip, in general, are all near a gambling site or feature gambling on their own property. An ideal Vegas trip will start with a trip to the casinos, where almost all of the things Sin City has to offer are on show – slots, roulette, blackjack, and much more. If large casino scenes aren’t your thing, and you’re feeling a little bit more adventurous, private poker games, blackjack games, and small-scale gambling are all readily available! Just make sure you manage your finances, and you should be fine! Keep in mind that most of the leading casinos in the city are found on the Strip, which will work as the center point of your time in Vegas. Odds are you’ll spend the bulk of your time on the Strip, which is why we recommend exploring it – you’ll never know what you’ll find without trying!
