The Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art displays the work of famous artists from all over the world courtesy of partnering museums and foundations. The displays change with every season. This Summer’s exhibit at BGFA is Leather Throwers: Celebrating the World of Boxing Through Art.
Explore the sport of boxing through the lens of an artist. The exhibit is named after Ed Ruscha’s famous drawing titled “Leather Throwers.” Photography, posters, paintings, sculptures, and reimagined memorabilia by icons like Annie Liebovitz, Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Gary Simmons, and Jeffrey Gibson make up this exhibit.
It also tells the story of the history that Las Vegas and boxing share dating back to the 1950s. Vegas has been the hub for the biggest events of the sport, making this art installation very personal. Relive the iconic fights that have been hosted on The Strip for decades. Experience unseen moments of the most famous boxing heavyweights like Muhammad Ali, Oscar de La Roya, and Mike Tyson.
Visit the Leather Throwers exhibit Thursday through Monday from 10am to 6pm. It debuted in May and will be open through August 22.
