You are NOT required to wear a mask in Las Vegas- unless you’re working. That’s according to the new rules put in place by Clark County, where Las Vegas is located. Starting on Thursday, July 21, all workers in Clark County will need to wear a mask indoors regardless of their vaccination status. The decision comes after county officials held an emergency meeting to discuss rising COVID-19 rates.
We re talking here about doing something getting going, County Commissioner Jim Gibson said during the meeting.
The Nevada Resort Association and the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce expressed support for the employee mask rule.
This is our second-most effective tool next to vaccinations, which we and our membership continue to push, said David Dazlich, a lobbyist for the chamber.
Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak (D) originally mandated masks in March 2020. Following guidance from the CDC, he dropped the requirement on May 13. Unvaccinated people are still encouraged to wear masks everywhere, while unvaccinated people need to mask up in medical facilities and when using public transportation or taking a taxi.
