Kyle Busch won the 2021 Busch clash at the Daytona International Speedway road course. His diehard fandom knew he could do it, but no one else expected him to. In fact, the battle seemed to be coming down to Ryan Blaney and Chase Elliott, who rode fender-to-fender for several laps. Unfortunately for both drivers, an errant pass on Elliott’s part resulted in Blaney hitting the wall and Kyle Busch slipping past both drivers to steal the win.
I kinda felt like there was an interesting opportunity that was developing there, Busch said of the Blaney-Elliott situation after the race. When that started happening I was hoping they would wreck long enough I could get up there and get by them and win the thing. It s never over until it s over in these kind of things.
Keep in mind that this is the same Kyle Busch that struggled to win all season in 2020, and was even eliminated in the round of 8. Whether this means Busch is back or not is anyone’s guess. It could be dumb luck, but he is certainly getting people talking. He might even find a way to nab a 3rd championship win.
Chase Elliott recovered to finish 2nd while Ryan Blaney ended up in the 13th spot.
