Is A’Ja Wilson The Aces secret weapon to winning the championship?

A’ja Wilson has stepped up her game this season after watching two of her teammates being sidelined for the season, but can she take the Las Vegas aces all the way?

A ja Wilson is a rare type of player. In fact, one could argue that she is a crucial piece in the puzzle that is the Las Vegas Aces. She could be what helps take the team to the championship. While Wilson does have an excellent supporting cast, including Kayla McBride, Angel McCoughtry, and Jackie Young, it is Wilson who brings the entire thing together.

Her 2020 numbers honestly look like someone lowered the difficulty setting to rookie on a video game and then proceeded to slaughter every single opponent that stood in her way. She has been able to rack up big numbers in clutch games.

Again, this wouldn t be without the help of Angel McCoughtry and Dearica Hamby from the three-point arc, but Wilson is turning in stunning performance after stunning performance. For example, she currently stands at 20 PPG, 8 RPG, and has only turned over the ball a whopping 1.6 times. These are the kinds of stats that anyone else would dream of.

Keep in mind that she is putting up these god-like numbers in the absence of Liz Cambage, who opted out of the season due to health concerns and Kelsey Plum, who went down with an Achilles injury before the season even began. Wilson is a saving grace of sorts for the team and could be what ultimately drives them to a championship this season.

What is it that makes A ja Wilson the secret weapon that this team needs right now as the season progresses? The answer to that question is the consistency she brings.

She stepped up when two of her best players went down. Sure, she might be garbage from the three-point line and not really contribute a lot to the assist factor of the game, but she is key in getting rebounds and in not turning the ball over during crucial periods of the game.

Think about it this way. The Las Vegas Aces could have imploded this season after the loss of two of their best players, but they didn t. Instead, Wilson stepped up as their leading scorer, Hamby and McCougthry stepped up beyond the arc, and everyone has done their part to grab key rebounds, steals, and free throws.

In the end, all the parts of this team will have to continue to work in unison to achieve their first championship season, but Wilson gives them the bump they need to do that.
