The WNBA has been around for 25 years, and the organization decided to acknowledge that history by teaming up with Nike to create new uniforms for all 12 teams. Not only does each new uniform have a unique story that is special to each organization, but they also seem to bring new life to the WNBA that wasn't there before. Of course, one could argue that they are just uniforms, and to some extent they are, but they are also a representation of the progress the organization has made over the last 25 years.
“The basketball uniform is an important representation of the brand of WNBA players and teams and a point of pride fans,” said WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert. “In partnership with Nike, unveiling new and exciting adaptations of the WNBA uniforms is a dynamic way to build on the foundation of the league’s first 25 years.”
Along with the rest of the league, Nike designed three unique uniforms for the Aces, including the Nike Heroine edition, the WNBA Nike Explorer Edition, and The Nike Rebel edition. Each edition adds a bold splash of flavor and could go a long way in helping the league raise its jersey sales. In fact, with how stylish the new Aces jerseys are, and many smelling a championship on the horizon, these jerseys could end up selling big with fans!
“The Las Vegas Aces’ uniforms bring together the best of what Las Vegas has to offer, from the luxury and thrill of the strip to the classic and fresh nuances that make Vegas a desert oasis,” says Tania Flynn, VP, Women’s Apparel Design at NIKE, Inc.
In the end, the jersey is only one small part of an organization, but having such unique ones show just how respected the WNBA has become.
