From celebrations with the Aces to a loss by the Raiders, here’s what happened last week in Las Vegas Sports (Sept 19 – 25).
#5 Kyler Murray speaks about getting hit

The Las Vegas Raiders suffered a humiliating defeat in overtime, which led to Kyler Murray getting hit! The incident occurred after Murray’s run it in touchdown to tie the game. He then ran to the stands, where he was hit by a fan in the crowd. Murray got angry about the incident and originally had this to say
“I think the guy is a low-life, whoever did it,” he told reporters during a press conference. “I hope they arrest him and he gets fired and he never can go to another game.”
A week later however he is singing a different tune and told the media during another press conference that there were no hard feelings about the incident. He also claimed that he would shake the person’s hand if he saw them today. Whether Raider Nation feels the same way after that loss is a different question, however.
#4 WWE sends the Las Vegas Aces a championship belt

The WWE has made it a tradition to send sports teams a title belt after a championship season, and that continued with the Las Vegas Aces. In fact, the organization was rewarded with a bright red WWE Championship replica belt that looks as badass as it sounds.
The Las Vegas Aces recently won the WNBA Finals after defeating the Connecticut Suns in a 3-1 series. They did so as the number one seed in the league, and absolutely dominated in the playoffs at times. The icing on the cake, however, had to be the hardware the team racked up over the season.
A’a Wilson won Defensive Player of the Year and league MVP in the same season! Becky Hammon won Coach of the Year. She’s also first female head coach. Jackie Young won Most Improved Player of the Year, and Chelsea Gray took home Finals MVP honors. With these accolades in just one season, it’s impossible to deny that they are the champions.
#3 Kyle Busch talks with McLaren Racing

Las Vegas native Kyle Busch has accomplished a lot in the world of auto racing, but one accolade has always eluded him. That would be the opportunity to compete in the Indianapolis 500, which former team owner Joe Gibb never let him do. Fortunately for Busch, his recent signing with Richard Childress came with an agreement that Rowdy could field offers for the historic Indycar race.
According to ESPN.com, McLaren Racing is in serious talks with Kyle Busch to run next year’s Indianapolis 500 in a fourth vehicle entry. If everything comes to fruition, Busch would join only a handful of NASCAR drivers to complete double duty on Memorial day weekend. The last to do so was his brother, Kurt Busch, who ran both races in 2014.
#2 Derek Carr expresses comfort with the new offense

Another year, another discussion about whether Derek Carr should be the franchise quarterback or benched. This time, Raider Nation wants him removed due to an 0-2 record and a 40.1 QB rating. He also is showing an inability to close out games, which is probably his most troubling stat. Despite all this, Carr says he is slowly getting more comfortable in Josh McDaniels new offense.
“When you get out there and you do it, it’s different from the sideline,” he said when asked about his slow start to the season. “Training camp’s different, right? There’s a different clock in the game because now I’m getting hit. I can turn the film on and I have experience from that point of view, in the system.”

#1 The Las Vegas Raiders fall to the Tennessee Titans.

The Las Vegas Raiders’ struggles continued after recording their third straight loss of the season last Sunday. This time it was the Tennessee Titans who defeated the Black and Silver 24-22. Derek Carr completed 26 of his 44 passes for 303 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception to end the game. The running game accomplished next to nothing, with Josh Jacobs recording 13 carries for 66 yards throughout 60 minutes of play.
The defense was led by Max Crosby, who recorded five solo tackles, four assisted tackles, and a sack on Ryan Tannehill for good measure. Rock Ya-Sin and Roderic Teamer both recorded five tackles for the defense, but it wasn’t enough to make a difference. The Raiders are now 0-3 and move on to face the Denver Broncos next Sunday at Allegiant Stadium.
And that’s what went down last Week in Las Vegas Sports (Sept 19 – 25).
