#5 Las Vegas Raiders host open floor locker room meeting with staff

Antonio Peirce and the Las Vegas Raiders are in free fall after a 2-7 start to the season, creating frustrations within the team. Several players voiced this frustration during an open floor locker room meeting with staff last week led by Maxx Crosby. The meeting came after their loss to the Cincinnati Bengals and amid calls for a major overhaul to the team’s offense.
Some who were present at the meeting say it ended uncomfortably for everyone involved, and many accusations were thrown around.
#4 Las Vegas Aces undergoing staff changes

It only makes sense to make changes after falling short of the three-peat, and that’s exactly what the Las Vegas Aces are doing. They started by firing team president Nikki Fargas last month, who oversaw the organization through their back-to-back championship years. Now, the Aces have added Ty Eliss as Becky Hammon’s assistant head coach.
“I’m super excited to add Ty Ellis to our coaching staff,” Hammon said. “He brings a wealth of experience both as a head coach and as an assistant from the NBA, G League, and international play. Not only is his energy palpable, but his character and work ethic are things I highly value.”
This announcement comes after former Aces assistant coach Natalie Nakase departed to become the head coach of the Golden State Valkyries. Las Vegas also lost Tyler Marsh, who left to become the new head coach of the Chicago Sky.
#3 Luke Getsy and two other coaches axed from Las Vegas Raiders
Las Vegas Raiders players didn’t have to wonder very long about the fallout from the open-floor locker room meeting on Monday. According to Tom Pelliserro of ESPN, the team fired three members of their offensive coaching staff in response. This includes offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, who has done little to improve the team.
Offensive line coach James Cregg and quarterback coach Rich Scangarello are also relieved of their duties. Pierce has restructured his coaching staff and named Scott Turner their new offensive coordinator. He also named senior offensive assistant Joe Philbin, the new offensive line coach for the rest of the season.
The Las Vegas Raiders parting ways with Luke Getsy probably comes down to many reasons. For example, it could be that his offense was only 25th in the league, despite his head coach’s promotion of the best show on turf. Another issue is the team’s 2-7 record, which has virtually removed them from playoff contention. According to other sources, Getsy’s firing might have something to do with the recent Davante Adams trade. Many news sources are citing his inability to get the most out of Adams as a reason. Adams even talked about his role in the firing during a recent interview.
“I love Luke [Getsy] and I have a long history with him,” Adams said during an interview. “We came into Green Bay at the same time, and he was my receivers coach for a few years and one of my favorite coaches that I’ve had. It just so happens that… obviously, me leaving doesn’t help that situation, but I had to do what I had to do, and that’s just kind of how this game goes.”
#2 Las Vegas Golden Knights lose to Kraken in overtime thriller

The Las Vegas Golden Knights fell to the Kracken last Friday in a 4-3 overtime thriller. Las Vegas started strong with a goal by Pavel Dorofeyev that had fans beaming with pride. They then stole the show again with a goal by Nicholas Roy to go up 2-0. Everything looked great, but an intercepted pass by Seattle’s Brandon Tanev created an opportunity to score before intermission.
Eventually, a goal from Jared McCann 28 seconds into overtime lost Las Vegas the game. Nicolas Roy, Pavel Dorofeyev, and Alex Pietrangelo all scored in Friday’s effort against the Kraken. Adin Hill was the goalie for this matchup and ultimately allowed four goals in 32 shots. That leaves him with a save percentage of .875 and adds to the uncertainty surrounding his future with the team.
The Las Vegas Golden Knights also received news that Mark Stone is day-to-day with an upper-body injury. This is a key loss for the defense. There is now speculation that they will use Noah Hanifin and Tomas Hurtl in his place.
#1 Antonio Pierce could be on the chopping block

Antonio Peirce’s future with the Las Vegas Raiders is in question. He is already being accused of rushing coaching decisions, and a 2-7 record doesn’t help. Sports Illustrated NFL insider Albert Breer discussed this rumor in a recent article.
“The Las Vegas Raiders’ firing of offensive coordinator Luke Getsy after the team’s fifth straight loss was a surprise in its timing. Generally, a new head coach like Antonio Pierce won’t do that halfway through his first season,” Breer wrote. “But it does reflect some pessimism in that building on the direction of the team right now.”
Still, the Raiders’ new coaching staff deserves time to gel and create new chemistry. Maybe Pierce can work on that throughout the rest of the season.
“It’ll be interesting to see if new limited partner Tom Brady has a voice on whether further changes take place after the season,” Breer continued. “Part of the issue to this point, as I’ve heard it, is the way Pierce patched the staff together.”
