Key point: Jey Uso will main event WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas

The Royal Rumble officially kicks off  Wrestlemania season, and this year’s started with a bang when Jey Uso eliminated John Cena to earn a main event title shot at WrestleMania 41. The occasion marks his first-ever Royal Rumble victory and WrestleMania main event.

Usu now has two options: face undisputed champion Cody Rhodes or challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight title. Either way, it should make for magic in Las Vegas later this year.

#3 Las Vegas Golden Knights boost offense with new free agent signing

Key Point: Brandon Saad is now a member of the Las Vegas Golden Knights

More firepower is what the Las Vegas  Golden Knights need, and it’s precisely what they got with their latest free-agent signing.  The Chicago Tribune reports that Brandon Saad was picked up less than an hour after hitting free agency. He is now signed to a $1.5 million contract for the rest of the season.

Despite only putting up seven goals and nine assists or 19 points with the Blues this season, he might gel better with the Golden Knights. It could just be a change of scenery that brings back the man who previously produced 20 or more goals a year.

#2 Las Vegas Raiders targeting new quarterback

Key point: Aaron Rodgers could be the next quarterback for the Las Vegas Raiders

The  Las Vegas Raiders need a quarterback, and the draft doesn’t look like an option. This leaves free agency or a trade as their only choices. Despite the lack of suitable candidates, many names are floating around the rumor mill. These include Russell Wilson, Sam Darnold, Kirk Cousins… and Aaron Rodgers.

“Picking sixth in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Raiders are unlikely to see either Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders fall to them,” Pro Football Network’s Ben Rolfe said.  “A trade-up to get either would be expensive, and there’s no guarantee it would be any more successful than a gamble on Rodgers. Rodgers is a relatively cheap experiment in 2025. He would only cost $9.5 million against the cap and $37.5 million in cash for the year…”

#1 Kelsey Plum is no longer part of the Las Vegas Aces

Key point: Kelsey Plum was traded to the Los Angeles Sparks for Jewell Loyd

Nothing lasts forever, and that includes Kelsey Plum’s time with the Las Vegas Aces. Plum is now a member of the Sparks after a three-team trade last week.  Las Vegas received Jewell Loyd, and a 2nd round pick was also sent to New York. Plum might be gone, but she left with some kind words.

“It’s been an incredible journey to be a part of the Aces organization, and Vegas will always hold a special place in my heart,” Plum wrote. “Vegas is much more than the strip. It is a community of incredible people who have a real zest for life, and it is a true basketball town.”
