What a week in Las Vegas sports. The Raiders consider a surprise at quarterback for 2024, a few Las Vegas Aces players get ready for the Olympics, and the Golden Knights lose again. It’s last week in Las Vegas sports (Jan 21 – 28).
#5 Champ Kelly to keep Assistant General Manager job with the Las Vegas Raiders

Antonio Pierce is now head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders after rallying the team to a 5-4 record. Interim Assistant General Manager Champ Kelly, however, was replaced by Tom Telesco last week. It has also been announced that Kelly might retake the assistant manager coach job.
This is terrible news because the locker room wants Kelly back as General Manager, not Telesco. It’s unknown why Kelly didn’t receive the permanent role of General Manager, but Mark Davis talked him up during an interview. The owner claims he has a lot of respect for the man and brings a lot to the organization.
#4 Las Vegas Aces stars named to USA Women’s team

The Las Vegas Aces are genuinely an elite squad, which is why four of them have been invited to the Team USA mini-camp. Las Vegas will have Kelsey Plum, Jackie Young, Chelsea Grey, and A’ja Wilson competing for the honor of joining Team USA.
“Not only will the training camp be tremendously valuable, but the qualifying tournament in Belgium will offer a meaningful opportunity to compete against world-class talent as we get one step closer to selecting the 2024 USA Women’s National Team,” Jennifer Rizzotti, USA Basketball Women’s National Team Committee chair, said in a statement.
#3 Rules for Super Bowl XVIII Revealed

Excitement is growing around Super Bowl LVIII, and the stakes can’t be higher. This is Las Vegas’ first time hosting the game, setting the stage for more opportunities. Every good news has its downsides, however, and there are rules for players about gambling during the Super Bowl weekend.
This includes players from the Super Bowl teams who cannot bet at the casino. They are banned from card games, slot machines, and anything else. Players from other teams can still bet, though.

#2 Las Vegas Golden Knights dealt another blow by the Detriot Redwings

The misery continues for the Las Vegas Golden Knights after the Red Wings outscored them 5-2. Logan Thompson let four goals past him, marking another poor showing for the former star. Paul Cotter and Ivan Barbashev both knocked in goals to try to keep the score close. Detroit scored three goals in the opening period, while Las Vegas with two goals. They then went blow for blow before the Red Wings shot in two more goals in the third period. This brings the Knights to a 29-15 record and puts them in a tie for third place in the Pacific.
#1 Russell Wilson an option for the Las Vegas Raiders in 2024

Picking quarterbacks is not a strength for the Las Vegas Raiders. The team is in a bad position and needs to figure out what to do under center in 2024. One option is Russel Wilson, who has been with the Broncos for two years.
“[The Raiders] aren’t really in a position to draft one of the top prospects this year, so signing Russell Wilson to a bounce-back contract might be a tempting proposition for them,” Ballentine wrote in a January 25 column. “However, the Raiders should consider what it looked like when Wilson was paired with a first-year head coach. The relationship between Wilson and Nathaniel Hackett produced one of the veteran’s worst seasons.”
