Here are the best and worst Las Vegas sports moments in 2024!
BEST: WWE announces WrestleMania 41 is coming to Las Vegas in 2025

WrestleMania 41 is coming to Las Vegas on April 19 – 20, 2025, and it’s probably one of the more surprising revelations of the year. Minneapolis was the frontrunner for host city until Las Vegas made a surprise bid last Easter Weekend.
Fast forward to May, and the official announcement was made: WrestleMania is returning to Sin City.
WORST: The Rock’s status for WrestleMania 41 is up in the air

The Rock is the most electrifying man in WWE, and his absence from WrestleMania 41 would be a worst-case scenario. Unfortunately for WWE fans, it might also be reality.
According to Chris Featherstone of Sportskeeda, the WWE is currently working under the assumption that the Rock won’t be at WrestleMania 41. Plans can change at any time, but he isn’t currently in the show’s storyline.
BEST: Kurt Busch hints at coming out of retirement

Kurt Busch didn’t have a great 2024. He was sidelined with a concussion injury and retired after NASCAR refused to clear him to compete. The Las Vegas native was also caught driving recklessly in North Carolina and got smacked with a DWI case.
Still, he’s hinting that he wants to return to racing.
“I take full responsibility for my recent DWI arrest and deeply regret my actions,” Busch wrote on Instagram. “I’m committed to making amends, ensuring this never happens again, and returning to racing with a renewed focus.”
WORST: Kyle Busch fails to make the playoffs

Nothing is more disappointing than watching Kyle Busch continue to fall off. The Las Vegas native already hasn’t made the final four since his 2019 championship, he also missed the NASCAR playoffs for the first time since 2012.
What’s even worse is that Busch came very close to getting a chance to compete in the playoffs. He just kept coming up short when it came to getting the win to secure his spot. A perfect example is the regular season finale at Daytona, where Harrison Burton held off Busch for a postseason spot. Busch also saw his 19 consecutive seasons with a victory streak ended after failing to win a single race in 2024. Things can only go up from here for Busch, and hopefully, they do.
BEST: Las Vegas Aces sweep the Storm in round one

There isn’t a lot of good to talk about when it comes to the Las Vegas Aces in 2024. They failed to capture their third straight championship while also seeming more vulnerable than ever.
Despite these shortcomings, the Aces did show flashes of their previous domination. The best example is their first-round playoff series, in which they knocked their rivals off in two games. Las Vegas started the series with a 78-67 victory over their rivals.
The second game turned out to be much of the same for the Las Vegas Aces. This time, they won 83-76.
WORST: Aces have their worst season in three years

The Las Vegas Aces are a very different team than they were when they first won a title in 2022. They just had their worst seasons to date. They finished the 2024 WNBA season with a 27-13 record!
During the playoffs, the Liberty bested the Aces in three games and knocked them out in the Semi-Finals. It was just such an embarrassing moment for the Las Vegas Aces after hyping up their three-peat all year.
BEST: Las Vegas Golden Knights start the season with a three-game winning streak

Las Vegas sports teams had a difficult 2024, making the Las Vegas Golden Knights a breath of fresh air. The team proved this in the season opener with an 8-4 blowout over the Colorado Avalanche.
The streak improved to 3-0 a few days later..
WORST: Las Vegas Golden Knights suffer a blowout

There is no getting around the fact that the Las Vegas Golden Knights were shut out twice. The first one was a 3-0 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs that completely halted their momentum. It also marked the first shutout for the season for Adin Hill, who allowed two goals and a .920% GAA.
Their 6-0 loss against the Utah Hockey Club is even worse. Ilya Samsonov allowed all six goals past him in the goalie’s worst performance to date. And this was a home game, adding to the embarrassment.
BEST: Las Vegas Raiders complete fourth-quarter comeback

The Las Vegas Raiders have very little to brag about in 2024. One exception to this dark cloud is their 26-23 in week two against the Baltimore Ravens. The Raiders trailed 9-6 at halftime but came back to stage their best comeback of the year.
Everything culminated in the fourth quarter with a three-yard run by Derrick Henry for another Ravens score. The Las Vegas Aces were now down 23-13 with only 12:11 left. The Raiders responded, however, with two field goals and a three-yard pass for the victory. They even managed to hold the Ravens to 3 points in the fourth.
Worst: Aidan O’Connell misses the snap during a close game against the Chiefs
There’s nothing worse than losing to a divisional rival. The Las Vegas Raiders suffered this fate after a late fumble ruined their would-be game-winning drive. Aidan O’Connell and company were already in Chiefs territory at this point and had a good chance at a long-field goal.
The problem is Aidan O’Connell was looking at the sideline and not at the center for the snap. This resulted in the ball bouncing off O’Connell’s arm and into the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs. Keep in mind that the victory would have snapped an eight-game losing streak.
O’Connell finished with 23 of 35 completions for 340 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions in what is an otherwise perfect game.
