Las Vegas is now home to the Raiders, the Aces, the Golden Knights, and an upcoming Formula 1 Street race. Many great athletes have come and gone, but here are the ones who stayed true to Las Vegas.
#5 Kelsey Plum: Las Vegas Aces, point guard (honorable mention)

Kelsey Plum played for the Las Vegas Aces for most of her career, which is why she’s on this list. But that’s not where she started. In fact, she was drafted to the WNBA’s San Antonio Spurs in 2017 and played her first season there. The team then relocated in 2018 and became what is now the Las Vegas Aces.
Plum’s time in Las Vegas didn’t start very well, and she didn’t do much with her minutes. For example, she totaled 9.5 points, 1.2 turnovers, four assists, and two rebounds per game. She did have a 3-point percentage of .439%. Her numbers didn’t really improve in 2019 either, and she was sidelined with an injury in the 2020 preseason.
That could have been the end of Plum’s career, but Sin City never gave up on her. In 2021 she was reintroduced into the lineup and recorded career highs of 14.8 points, 3.6 assists, and 2.9 rebounds. This marked the beginning of a comeback that would culminate when she helped the Aces to a title in 2022.
#4 Zach Whitecloub: Las Vegas Golden Knights, defenseman

Zach Whitecloud is the definition of a journeyman. The current Las Vegas Golden Knights defenseman played in the minor leagues for eight years before Sin City called him up! Unfortunately for Whitecloud, he was knocked back down to the minors after only one season with the Knights in 2018.
Whitecloud then spent seasons with the AHL’s Chicago Wolves before being called back in 2019. This time he made the most of his opportunity, putting up a goal and only four penalty minutes that season. The Golden Knights then used him for 20 games in the playoffs, where he picked up two goals and one assist.
His numbers have improved consistently every season, and he has now become a permanent fixture in Las Vegas. In the 2022-2023 season, Whitecloud unloaded five goals and seven assists in 59 games in the regular season. When it comes to the postseason, he put up two goals and six assists in 22 postseason games.
#3 Divine Deablo: Las Vegas Raiders, linebacker

The Las Vegas Raiders defense is having trouble finding themselves, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t good pieces in place. One of those is none other than Divine Deablo, who was drafted by the Raiders in 2021. He totaled 45 tackles in his first season in Las Vegas and also three tackles for losses.
He improved on those numbers in 2023 despite an injury and getting bumped on the depth chart. He put up 74 tackles, including 38 solo tackles and 36 assisted tackles. This happened over the course of just seven games, making him one of their more consistent weapons.

#2 Logan Thompson: Las Vegas Golden Knights, goalie

Logan Thompson has only been a Las Vegas Golden Knight for over a year but has already made a distinct impact. Despite suffering an injury towards the end of the 2022-2023 season, Thompson finished with 21 wins, 13 losses, three overtime losses, 96 goals allowed, and a goals allowed average of 2.65. While the aforementioned lower-body injury could cut his time short in Las Vegas, he still has done a lot in a very short time. He also has a very promising future in the league if he can stay healthy.
#1 A’ja Wilson: Las Vegas Aces, forward

A’ja Wilson is a very unique talent, and that’s why the Las Vegas Aces drafted her in 2018. Wilson had just come offsetting several collegiate records for the South Carolina Gamecocks. Her new mission was to help Las Vegas bring home a championship.
Wilson finally helped the Aces accomplish that goal in 2022 when they won the WNBA Finals. While Riqunia Williams rightfully earned Finals MVP for her amazing series performance, Wilson won league MVP. She also won defensive player of the year that season, showing just how versatile she is. That championship was the first in Las Vegas history.
