Tired of Kenny G elevator jazz wannabes or bad acoustic cover songs while trying to day-drink bottomless mimosas? The weekly Sunday soirée at 18bin in the Las Vegas Arts District is a welcome alternative to basic brunches thanks to its groovy vibes and grownup atmosphere.

For the March 19 installment of House Music Brunch, guest headlining veteran DJ/producer Lavelle Dupree brought out familiar faces amongst the local Las Vegas scene. Longtime fans, friends, and DJs ventured out from winter hibernation to show their support. Even the rain couldn’t damper the determination of outdoor diners wanting to dig deep into both the music and their meals.
Kicking off at 10 a.m., this 21+ brunch is a sweet deal with no cover charge and $25 bottomless mimosas that keep flowing until 5 p.m.! Pro tip: Be sure to make reservations in advance as there was still a lengthy wait for tables at the intimate venue well into the afternoon—even with the inclement weather.
Plus, with the resurgence of mainstream/pop interest in all things house music, thanks to some singers you may have heard of named Beyonce and Drake, n00bs to the genre are on the prowl for see-and-be-seen spots for social media selfies. However, one of the celebrated aspects of house music is that all are welcome, so hopefully, many of those initial trend clout chasers end up becoming legitimate lifelong fans. (After all, house music is “a spiritual thing, a body thing, a soul thing!”)

At House Music Brunch, an assortment of sexy subgenres, including deep, tech, progressive, jackin’, and more blend seamlessly via a lineup of around a dozen DJs each week for a party that goes until 10 p.m. There’s both an outdoor and indoor DJ booth, though the aforementioned rain last Sunday consolidated the festivities to just inside. Luckily 18bin has that flexibility if needed, so no one had to go home early.
The booked DJs were also chill and accommodating (unlike at megaclubs, where egos often abound). For example, Vegas local and longtime raver Lil Amie happily handed over the decks during her billed special birthday DJ set so Lavelle could move indoors when the weather won the battle for the outside dancefloor. Multitalented scene staple Steve Walker also jumped in with some percussion accompaniment for Lavelle before he took over the booth, and heads kept bouncing till after brunch was over and another wave of revelers drifted in.
If you want to mix up your boring brunch routine, hit up Sundays at 18bin for delectable beats and tasty treats. Click HERE for reservations and HERE to check out the menu. (We recommend the bananas foster pancakes for a tasty sugar rush to fuel your feet on the dancefloor. The ahi tuna tacos also got a seal of approval from our group and would order them again.)
Next up at House Music Brunch will be featured headliner Mark Eteson, plus special guests including BadBeat, Day Won, Jeff Bomb, and more on March 26. View all of 18bin’s upcoming events at 18binlv.com.
