Remember back in the day (for me it was 5th and 6th grade) when the mall was the spot. Now, in hindsight, it actually wasn’t that fun because I never had any money to buy from the stores that all the cool kids were constantly bragging about. But the lure was there.
Fast forward to 2025, and most of the malls that were “it” back in my day (yep, I’m turning into one of those old folks) are relics of the past. Still, they paved the way for the new era of malls, and you can see that in places like Downtown Summerlin. Needless to say, this outdoor mall definitely has that aforementioned “lure.”
Sprawling over 400 acres, with 6,400 parking spaces and 125 stores and services, Downtown Summerlin is a major upgrade from my childhood favorite mall. On top of the stores, it’s also home to the Las Vegas Ballpark & City National Arena (practice facility for the NHL Vegas Golden Knights). That’s all fine and good, but I’m a shop-a-holic at heart so here’s my favorite spots that I like to check out whenever I’m strolling along the mall’s sidewalk on a sunny day, with mom in tow of course.
- Apple (1985 Festival Plaza Dr)
Who doesn’t love an Apple shopping experience?
- Hot Topic (10975 Sage Park Dr)
Yes I’m a 40 year old man telling you to go to Hot Topic. But only because the store has a nostalgic kick for me.
- Lids (2010 Festival Plaza Dr)
One of my signature “looks” is that I’m always rocking a hat or beanie. Hey, it can get cold up there when you’re bald.
- Urban Outfitters (1990 Park Centre Dr)
If I had my wish, my entire closet would consist entirely of everything in this store.
- Regal Downtown Summerlin (2070 Park Centre Dr)
One of my favorite theaters in Las Vegas. Decent snacks, comfy seats that recline, and huge screens.
