Raiders vs Saints: Top 5 Plays From Week 2

The Raiders notched another win this week and while any playoff hopes are still a long ways off these are the top five plays from Monday Night’s game.

1. Derek Carr to Alec Ingold for first touchdown of the game

It s no secret that the Raiders’ backs were against the wall when they were down 10-0 in the first quarter, and they needed some kind of response to keep the game close. Fortunately for Raider nation, Derek Carr marched his team down the field thanks to some key plays by Josh Jacobs and Darren Waller, which set up Alec Ingold for an easy three-year touchdown.

This proved that the Raiders can thrive in a do-or-die situation and that Josh Jacobs can make a pretty big impact.

2. Derek Carr to Darren Waller for one yard pass touchdown

Derek Carr got intercepted late in the second help and while the team did respond with a field goal on their very next drive, they still failed to get into the endzone. All that changed on their first drive in the second half however as Derek Carr connected with Foster Moreau for a 31-yard gain. Carr followed that up by handing the ball off to Josh Jacobs for a solid 6-yard gain.

Carr then connected with Waller for a two-yard touchdown that put the Las Vegas Raiders up 24-17 and marked their first lead of the game.

3. Crucial stop on Drew Brees in the third quarter

One of the biggest question marks about the Las Vegas Raiders in 2020 was their defense. Fortunately for the team, however, they got a key stop on the Saints late in the third quarter that included an offensive holding penalty,  an illegal blindside block and Brees couldn t complete a 30-yard pass to get them a fresh set of downs.

This win is a good sign that the Raiders are capable of a playoff run of some sort.

4. Stopping Drew Brees a second time

Believe it or not, the Las Vegas Raiders’ defense managed to force the Saints to punt the ball in back-to-back drives. Not only is that ultimately what helped with the Raiders win the game, but it was also proof that this is a very different defense this year- one that s capable of protecting a lead and winning the game.

5. One last touchdown

The Raiders were ahead 24-17 late in the fourth quarter but needed one final shot to make sure the Saints didn’t walk away with a victory. Fortunately for the Raiders, they would go on an amazing 10 play, 74-yard drive that resulted in a 20-yard touchdown reception from Carr to Richard.

In the end, this is the play that locked up the game and put the Raiders 2-0 to start the season.
