Tips for a Smoke-Free Vegas Vacation

Nevada may have banned cigarette smoking in public spaces back in 2006, but if you visit a casino, it’s still allowed. If you are a non-smoker looking for a smoke-free vacation experience, the following tips could come in handy:

1. Book a Smoke-Free Hotel

The first step towards having a smoke-free vacation is checking in at a smoke-free hotel. This means no cigarette stench in the rooms, hotel lobby, or the elevator. Consequently, your lungs will thank you. The Signature at MGM Grand, and Vdara are some of the smoke-free hotel options you can choose from. At the Signature at MGM Grand, for instance, a guest caught smoking will cough a fine of about $500.

2. Consider Using a Lyft or Uber Instead of Taxis

It might be considered illegal for taxi drivers to smoke in the presence of their passengers, but they are allowed to smoke if they are alone. Consequently, the cigarette stench can hover around and may not completely clear when a passenger boards. With Lyft, smoking is completely forbidden whether a passenger is on board or not.

3. Bet on Poker and Sports

Most of the Vegas gaming spaces allow smoking, but poker rooms are the exception. This, alongside the use of sportsbooks, can save you when you’re trying to escape unappealing cigarette odor.

4. Go Shopping

Indoor retail shopping entities are strictly marked as smoking-free areas. Consequently, you will not have to worry about smelling cigarette smoke. However, you have to stick to the renowned indoor shopping venues and keep away from those clustered strip mall entities around the Strip.

5. A Pool or a Spa Will Work Magic

Vegas is a hub of impressive and amazing pools and spas that do not allow smoking. Mandalay Bay has one of the best options with a large pool complex that prohibits smoking. Even better, with $30, you can access their Bathhouse Spa and enjoy a refreshing eucalyptus steam room, a sauna, a relaxation room, and a cold plunge pool without worrying about cigarette smoke.

6. Go Dinning or Enjoy a Show of your Choice

The Nevada Indoor Air Act, which was passed in 2006, prohibits smoking in food lounges, restaurants, eateries, convention centers, meeting spaces, arenas, and theaters, among other places. Restaurants in gaming areas and casinos are also smoking-free. However, nightclubs and lounges are not smoking-free areas. No matter how much you would want to party, these areas are a no-go zone if you want to avoid smokers. You can instead catch a show.
