Las Vegas Golden Knights backup goalie Laurent Brossoit has some heavy shoes to fill in the 2021-2022 NHL season, but he has begun the process with a few solid preseason games. In fact, between a shutout against the Los Angeles Kings and holding tough in the final minutes against the Colorado Avalance, the man undoubtedly deserving of some praise. He might be a better backup for Robin Lehner than fans initially thought.
All in all, Brossoit currently sits 2-0 in preseason starts, has been shot at 60 times, and has allowed only three goals to get by him. Whether this continues into the regular season remains to be seen, but this is a promising start.
2. The bad: Robin Lehner bringing bad press

Speaking of Las Vegas Golden Knights starting goalie Robin Lehner, he’s now embroiled in controversy after letting accusations fly of medical malpractice. Lehner accused the Philadelphia Flyers of handing out pain and anxiety pills during flights and accused the Buffalo Sabres staff of mishandling Jack Eichel’s injury.
Lehner, a former teammate of Eichel, claims that the star center was forced to do high-risk exercises just weeks after spraining his ankle. The feud is so bad that the NHL has asked to meet with Lehner to discuss the allegations. If Lehner is telling the truth, then the league has a lot to own up to with how they deal with injuries. However, if he is lying, one would have to imagine some kind of punishment being doled out to him.
3. Ugly: The Las Vegas Golden Knights are 2-2 so far this preseason.

What can you really say about the Las Vegas Golden Knights at this point?
While you used to be able to tout that they had one of the best goalie tandems in the league, that is no longer the case after Marc-Andre Fleury was traded to the Blackhawks. You could also say they have a powerful offense, but that didn’t show up very well in a 4-2 loss in a preseason opener against the San Jose Sharks. The only thing you can say about the team at this point is that they’re a mixed bag.
We have a lot of questions about the Golden Knights heading into the 2021-2022 season.
