1. Understand Blackjack
Make sure you have some background knowledge of blackjack before putting down your money to play. Different game variants may have different rules. Also, always have a strategy before you hit the high-limit tables.
2. Maintain the Least House Advantage
It is crucial to evaluate the house edge before you play. The higher the house edge, the less money you make from a win and vice versa. One basic strategy is to play smaller numbers of decks. Play one deck if possible.
3. Quick Decision-Making
Essentially, a good player must be able to decide when to stand, hit or split.
If the dealer has a six or lower and your hand sums up to 13 or greater, stand.
There are multiple circumstances when you can hit. For example, if the dealer’s up card is an ace and your hand’s total is 11, you can hit. If your hand is 8, 12, or 16 and the dealer’s up card is an ace, 7 or1 0, you can hit.
You can never split a 5 in any game. If allowed, aim to split 8’s and aces. You can split 6’s or 7’s anytime the dealer’s up card is at a six or lesser.
It doesn’t sound effortless, but it becomes more comfortable with time when you get down to playing. If your hand’s total is 9, 10, or 11, you can double down.
4. Count Cards
It is probably the oldest trick in the book but requires you to be keen. Counting cards enables you to take note of the dealt cards in a game which helps you evaluate when the deck favors the dealer or when you as a player have higher odds.
