WWE recently announced that they would hold their annual Summerslam pay-per-view event at Allegiant stadium, and while a lot of people were happy with the move, some wondered why Sin City got the nod for one of the biggest pay-per-view events of the year. Interestingly enough, it seems to have a lot to do with the Las Vegas economy roaring back to life.
“We know how bad the pandemic hit Las Vegas and the economy there. One of the thoughts we had [at WWE] was to have one of our signature events, SummerSlam, at Allegiant.,” WWE President Nick Kahn said in a statement regarding the decision. “I don’t believe there have been full fans there yet. We thought a big sell-out crowd in Vegas to help stimulate the economy would be the right thing to do with the city.”
2. Kyle Busch on starting a Cup Series team

Kyle Busch has almost done it all in the world of NASCAR, begging the question of what is next for the candyman. While the two-time Cup Series champion hasn’t shown much interest in bringing his team to the Cup level, the recent influx of new Cup teams spurred the media to ask whether Busch will throw his name into that ring. Unfortunately for those hoping that KBM one day starts a Cup team, the veteran driver seems very iffy about it.
I ve not even looked into it, so I don t know if there is any kind of charter stuff available or whatnot, but where we are at and what we are doing now we re in a good spot with the truck stuff,” Busch said when asked about KBM moving up to the Cup level one day. “We are leaders of the (Toyota Racing Development) driver development program and the beginning of that. I say the beginning we are the beginning of Truck on up. It s probably just not going to happen.
3. #3 Golden Knights top Canadiens in game one of semi finals

The Las Vegas Golden Knights are still in title contention after coming back from a 0-2 start to defeat the Colorado Avalanche in six games, making them a pretty tough team to beat. Of course, a lot of their success has to do with their all-star goalie combination of Marc Andre Fleury and Robin Lehner, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg. In fact, with scorers like William Karlsson, Alex Pietrangelo, Max Pacioretty, and Reiley Smith, who combine for 42 points, and 28 assists in the playoffs, this team is absolutely stacked!
The Knights also defeated the Minnesota Wild in a seven-game series that saw both teams trade the lead several times in a crucial playoff battle. Fast forward to the present day, and the Knights earned a tough win 4-1 against the Montreal Canadiens Monday night to take a 1-0 lead in the Stanley Cup semi-finals. While Montreal would return the favor winning back-to-back games, you should know that the Golden Knights usually do their best work when faced with a deficit.
4. #2 A’ja Wilson comments on last year’s sweep to the Seattle Storm

It’s no secret that the Las Vegas Aces suffered a humiliating defeat last season in the WNBA finals against the Seattle Storm, and it didn’t sit very well with A’ja Wilson and her team. Maybe that had to do with how hard the team had worked throughout the season without key pieces like Liz Camabge and Kelsey Plum, but it was still a tough pill to swallow. Wilson was profiled in a recent Sports Illustrated story and gave her thoughts on the series. She also told reporters that the loss forced her to step away from the game during the offseason.
No one expected us to make it that far, but to see us come together for one common goal and that feeling of getting swept was hard,” Wilson said during the interview with Sports illustrated. ” Like, we could not win one game… I had to take some time off. I won MVP, but I don t want my teammates to ever have that feeling again that we felt in the locker room in the bubble after the Finals.
5. #1 Derek Carr stands firm on not wanting to play anywhere else

Derek Carr continues to be one of the most polarizing figures in the NFL, and a lot of that has to do with the Las Vegas Raiders’ insistence on keeping the young superstar as Quarterback. While Carr has had a few successful seasons with the Raiders, even going 12-4 in 2016, he hasn’t been able to top that mark since. Furthermore, his record after that winning season stands at 22-31, which is less than desirable for someone who is supposed to be a franchise Quarterback.
With that being said, Carr spoke to reporters during a mandatory training camp session earlier this week and outright stated that he would likely retire if he lost his job with the Raiders. That makes this sort of a do-or-die season for him.
“I’d probably quit football if I had to play for somebody else,” Carr stated after participating in a mini-camp drill. “I am a Raider for my entire life. I’m going to root for one team for the rest of my life — it’s the Raiders. So, I just feel that so strong in my heart I don’t need a perfect situation … to make things right.”
