A major pay-per-view in Las Vegas, the Raiders tired of losing, and who wins the Julio Jones sweepstakes? All on last week in Las Vegas sports.

WWE has announced a 24 event tour as they go on the road for the first time in over a year, and a lot of fans are wondering if Las Vegas will be granted a date or not. There are even rumors circulating that the city is being considered for the upcoming Summerslam pay-per-view. While it’s not the WrestleMania weekend that a lot of Las Vegas fans were looking for, it’s still a big-name event that will draw crowds from all over the world.

According to wrestlevotes.com, the show will take place on a Saturday night in an outdoor venue in Sin City. Whether that actually turns out to be true or not remains to be seen, especially with the unpredictable pandemic still lurking, but it would be great to see some pro wrestling back in Sin City.

#4 Conneticut Suns coach suspended and fined for body shaming Liz Cambage

You don’t piss in the wind, you don’t tear on superman’s cape, and you definitely don’t call Las Vegas Aces star center Liz Cambage fat. Unfortunately for Connecticut Suns head coach Curt Miller, he made this mistake during a game against the Aces and was promptly punished. Between the fine imposed on him by the league and his suspension, Miller might actually have to think twice before making mean comments about other players.

The incident occurred when Miller was frustrated with officials ruling and claimed that Cambage weighed over 300 pounds.  Miller has since apologized for the incident and released the following statement: “During last night’s game, while arguing a call with an official, I made an inappropriate and offensive comment in reference to Liz Cambage’s height and weight.”

It’s no secret that the Las Vegas Raiders have one of the worst defenses in the entire league. Between the defense letting countless key games slip through their hands last season and their disappointing 473 points allowed throughout 16 games, there just isn’t much to be excited about.  The good news is that the players aren’t happy about the situation either.

“All of us are tired of losing,” Clelin Ferrell said when asked about their shortcomings last season. “It’s not just the fact that we’re losing, it’s the fact we get right there to the playoffs and just can’t get over the hump.”

#2 Kyle Busch rips NASCAR’s inaugural race at COTA

NASCAR debuted at Circuit of The Americas road course last weekend, and while many fans were hoping it would be a turning point for the sport, it became one of the sport’s worst showings in years. Conditions on the track were treacherous due to rain, and cars were wrecked as a result. If nothing else, it was a masterclass in why NASCAR probably shouldn’t have ventured to COTA and why they should definitely avoid racing in the rain in the future.

Las Vegas native Kyle Busch, who finished tenth after leading several laps and pitting late for fuel, was adamant about the dangers on the track and spoke about it in a post-race interview with the press. Keep in mind that this is a two-time Cup Series champion that broke both his legs in a previous incident.

There were certainly times where you could not see. You re behind guys and in traffic, and there is just so much spray down the backstretch that you just could not see, Busch said.  There were other times for me, running around the race track where I think I was up to ninth or eighth or something and I m blind through the esses. Just so much dirt and stuff up on the windshield that the windshield can t stay clean.”

#1 Cap space will likely keep Julio Jones from joining Raiders

Where will Julio Jones land in 2021?

Although the Las Vegas Raiders have been repeatedly rumored as a possible new home for Julio Jones, it now appears that this won’t be happening. Unless something changes in the next few days, the Las Vegas Raiders cap space will supposedly prevent them from competing in the Julio Jones sweepstakes.

According to ESPN analyst Paul Gutierrez: “Cap space, cap space, and cap space. The Raiders have roughly $6 million in cap space and still have to sign a majority of their draft class. Plus, while Jones would be an upgrade over anyone in its receiver room, Las Vegas is committed to Henry Ruggs III taking the next step. He is next to untouchable, and you figure the Falcons would want him in a trade.
