Last Week in Las Vegas Sports (Apr 26 – May 2)

This week we take a look at the WNBA power rankings, discuss the Raider’s new draft picks, Las Vegas’ chance of getting another sports team.

#5 Trevon Moehrig drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders surprised everyone during night one of the NFL draft by trading up with the San Francisco 49ers and deciding on former Jim Thorpe Recipient Trevon Moehrig, who comes into the Raiders organization with a lot to offer. Moehring racked up a total of 85 solo tackles, 39 assisted tackles, and seven interceptions. Of course, the young man will have to grow in a defense that isn’t exactly running on cylinders, but it’s a great chance to prove himself.

#$ Las Vegas Golden Knights fans want 50% attedendce at games

It’s no secret that everyone wants to get back to normal, and this has led some Golden Knights fans to petition the organization over their seating capacity. The current capacity for Golden Knights games sits at 20% but fans are trying to get that number moved up to 50% for the final three home games of the season. Who knows if it’ll happen.

#3 Las Vegas Ace top power rankings heading into 2021 season

The Las Vegas Aces currently have the third-best odds to win the WNBA Championship this season, and while some think they should have the top-ranked spot, it isn’t necessary. Between this team’s underdog essence and the fact that swishappeal.com puts them third in power rankings, these women have all the momentum they need to start the season on a strong note.

#2 Richard Sherman in contact with Las Vegas Raiders

Richard Sherman did an interview with Stephen A Smith this week where he revealed that he had been in contact with several teams about joining them for the 2021 season. This includes the New Orleans Saints, The Las Vegas Raiders, and the Seattle Seahawks. With that being said, however, he also told the longtime sports reporter that a return to the San Francisco 49ers wasn’t out of the question either. He claimed that he was just waiting for teams to finalize their draft roster before deciding where would be best for him.

“I only want to play two more [seasons],” Sherman said. “I want to get on a competitive team. I think I still have a lot to give to the game. I think I still have a lot that I want to accomplish, and I think I can go out there and help a defense come together like it should and reach their potential, reached the heights that the defenses that I’ve played on have reached.”

#1 Rumors swirl of Las Vegas getting more professional sports teams

Las Vegas Nevada has become a haven for professional sports and it looks like quite a few people believe that little trend will continue. In fact, some experts believe that Sin city could see an NBA team or even a professional baseball team coming to town.

“There’s a lot of conversations about the NBA. There’s a lot of conversations about Major League Baseball. Are both of them are looking at us? Yes, they are. Is anything set in stone? Absolutely not,” said Jeremy Aguero, principal analyst at Applied Analysis.
