Last Week in Las Vegas Sports (Apr 24 – 30)

Las Vegas Raiders decline several fifth-year options, Colin Kaepernick possibly coming back to the NFL, and so much more!

#4 Kyle Busch s spotter tears him apart

Kyle Busch revealed last week that he did not have a guaranteed ride at Joe Gibbs Racing in 2023, and some are calling the move disrespectful. The Las Vegas native was ripped by NASCAR spotter Brett Griffin in a recent podcast episode of Door Bumper Clear.”

M&M s has invested hundreds of millions of dollars into Kyle Busch, Griffin said. They have supported Kyle Busch, they have made him worth tens of millions of dollars. They have afforded him the opportunity to be at Joe Gibbs Racing. I felt his remarks were negative and terrible towards Joe Gibbs, Joe Gibbs Racing, and every sponsor he s ever had while he s been there.

#3 Las Vegas Golden Knights eliminated from playoff contention

It’s official. The Las Vegas Golden Knights have been knocked out of playoff contention, marking the first time this has happened in the organization’s short history. The deciding factor in their elimination was the Dallas Stars scoring in regulation and securing the final spot.

Honestly, between Robin Lehner announcing that he was undergoing season-ending surgery and half of the roster still roughed up from various injuries, the team was doomed from the start.

#2 Las Vegas Raiders decline fifth-year options for several 2019 draft picks

It s no secret that the NFL draft can be a bit of a crapshoot, and nowhere was that more evident than in the 2019 draft. This is where the Las Vegas Raiders selected three first-round picks… and went on to waive a fifth-year option on all of them in 2022.

That’s right! Joshua Jacobs, Jonathan Adams, and Clelin Ferrell have all had their fifth-year options declined despite being picked in the first round of the 2019 draft.

Keep in mind that the draft is supposed to be a place where you find the future of your organization. Guys that can build a team and get things moving on all sides of the ball. Unfortunately for Las Vegas, the 2019 draft can basically be chalked up to a giant waste of time if they’re already thinking about getting rid of their top picks.

“We look forward to working with all three players and we will evaluate each situation individually moving forward,” Ziegler said in a statement.

#1 Mark Davis comments on the Raiders possibly signing Colin Kapernick

Colin Kaepernick hasn t been on an NFL roster since the 2016 season, and most people seem to think the Super Bowl Quarterback will never make a return. But most people aren’t Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis. He says ays he would welcome Kapernick with open arms. Who knows whether Davis is telling the truth, but it would rock the Las Vegas sports world if the Raiders managed to make this happen.

I believe in Colin Kaepernick, Davis said, per Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area. He deserves every chance in the world to become a quarterback in the National Football League. I still stand by it. If our coaches and general manager want to bring him in or want him to be the quarterback on this team, I would welcome him with open arms.
