What Happened in Las Vegas Sports Last Week (Mar 29 – Apr 4)

You won’t believe who could be making their way to the Las Vegas Raiders!

#5 Nevin Lawson suspended for PED

Nevin Lawson might have been signed to a new deal with the Las Vegas Raiders over the offseason, but that doesn’t mean he will be available for the first game of the 2021 season. In fact, thanks to getting caught using performance-enhancing drugs, Lawson will be forced to miss the first two games of the season, meaning the Raiders are already down a defender- it’s not a good look. Will the Raiders continue to put up with his behavior?

#3 Kyle Busch comments on learning from his mistakes

Believe it or not there was once a time when Kyle Busch was on top of the NASCAR world. The man even returned from what could have been a career-ending leg injury and won five races on his way to his first championship. Fast forward to 2020, however, and we are looking at a much different man.

Interestingly enough, Busch recently talked about what went wrong for him.

Some of the biggest things, more so than what we did right was what we did wrong. Trying to fix the wrongs and come up with solutions,  Busch said in an interview with NASCAR.com.  “We kind of had this philosophy of how to do things, build cars and whatever… It just was not working for us, we were striking out… I think we re gonna have a better sense of the 550 package races for this year.

#3 Kolton Miller signs extension with the Raiders

It’s no secret that the Las Vegas Raiders will need to keep their quarterback safe during the 2021 season, which is why the organization has decided to sign tackle Kolton Miller to a multi-year extension. While this might not seem like a big signing, especially with all the weapons the Raiders still need on offense, his ability to protect the quarterback and keep the defense from making key plays is what will make the addition of Miller very valuable to the team over the course of the 16 game season.

According to Raiders.com: “The athletic, 6-foot-8, 325-pound tackle out of UCLA started in 14 games during the 2020 campaign, helping the Raiders rank eighth in the NFL in total offense, averaging 383.3 yards per game, while finishing 10th in the league in fewest sacks allowed (28). “

#2 Chandler Stephenson suspended three games for elbowing

The Las Vegas Golden Knights have had a roller coaster of a season, and that coaster has taken a downward turn in the last couple of weeks. It started with Marc Andre Fleury being put on the COVID-19 protocol list, which left him out of action for an undetermined amount of time. Even worse, backup goalie, Robin Lehner,  was forced to publicly dispel rumors about him being absent due to substance abuse, which he eventually explained as a concussion.  Add in other injuries, and you have a recipe for disaster for a team that looked so good early on.

Unfortunately for the Golden Knights, their woes continued after the team announced that Chandler Stephenson would be serving a three-game penalty for nailing Los Angeles Kings player Tobias Bjornfot in the head with some elbows.

#1 Aaron Rodgers interested in going to the Las Vegas Raiders?

It appears that Aaron Rodgers isn’t happy again in Geen Bay, possible because the Packers want to restructure his $40 million deal to help with cap space.  Now, the Packers might be able to hold on to the former Super Bowl-winning Quarterback under the right conditions, but why not grant him a trade to a team he actually wants to be on?

According to league sources speaking about the ongoing situation in Green Bay, “the Raiders and Denver Broncos are potential destinations. Those teams could bring the Chico native into the AFC West.”
