The 2022 NFL draft took place in Las Vegas last week, and while the Raiders didn t get to pick until the third round, they did make great strides in building for the future. Furthermore, those draft picks they gave up in the first and second rounds of the NFL draft went to acquiring Davontae Adams, which is a huge win for this already stacked offense.
The Las Vegas Raiders started things out in the third round by drafting offensive lineman Dylan Parham, who is described as having a lot of athleticism. Hopefully, that will help keep Derek Carr protected and give him more time to throw.
Zamir White, running back (Round 4)

The Las Vegas Raiders’ next pick was in Round4, where the team selected Running back Zamir White. Not only does this create what should be a healthy competition at the position, but it could also lead to a run-first offense. In fact, with Kenyan Drake, Joshua Jacobs, Zamir White, and others, the Raiders could make great gains in the ground game. It s also worth noting that Las Vegas traded up in the draft to make this move. Of course, coach Josh McDaniels said the running game would be a focus for the organization in 2022, but who would have guessed they were going to decline a fifth-year option on Josh Jacobs and draft two running backs over the weekend! This means big changes could be on the way for this offense.
Neil Farrell Jr, defensive tackle (Round 4)

Sin City selected defensive tackle Neil Farrell Jr in Round 4, marking their first big defensive pick. Keep in mind that this is the same defense that finished in the bottom half of the league and has been cut up to absolute absurdity on the field. Maybe Farrell Jr will be a step in bettering that defense and his blocking skills could lead to great things for the team.
“Nose tackle prospect with a well-earned reputation for making it hard on blockers to do their job in the run game,” Lance Zierlein said in his analysis of Farrell. “Farrell has seen personal maturity and development in his play that allowed him to consistently bully opponents as a physical force in the middle in 2021.”
Matthew Butler, defensive tackle (round 5)

The Las Vegas Raiders selected defensive tackle Matthew Butler in Round 5. It was an interesting move that makes you wonder what exactly Josh McDaniels has in mind for this defense.
Thayer Munford, offensive line (Round 7)

Their next pick was offensive Linemen Thayer Munford in Round 7. He could end up being another key player who really helps Derek Carr. Of course, he will have to prove himself before getting much playing time, but he has potential.
The offensive tackle position in itself is a position that the supply and demand at that position is tough,” Raiders GM Dave Ziegler said when describing Munford. Obviously he ll have to come in and show what he can do at the professional level.”
Brittain Brown, running back (Round 7 )

In the seventh round of the draft, the Raiders picked running back, Brittain Brown. While this is a very interesting pick for several reasons, it again points to the idea of McDaniels’ wanting a diverse selection at the running back position. This might even be the coach’s way of recreating the Patriots’ dominant run game in the past. It s going to be interesting to watch this play out.
The draft was a bit of a mixed bag for Las Vegas. They gave up several picks for Davantae Adams in the first place and thus the pool of available talent shrunk. When it finally came time for the Raiders to pick, they seemed to make odds choices that will take time to justify.
