5 Worst Quarterbacks in Las Vegas Raiders’ History

The Las Vegas Raiders have had a lot of… interesting quarterbacks. . Join us as we count down the worst QB’s to ever play for the Raiders.

1. Donald Hollas

Isn t it strange how a light can shine so bright and burn out so quickly? Unfortunately for former NFL player, Donald Hollas, who started off his career with promise, that’s exactly what happened. Hollas went to the Raiders in 1992 and got significant playing time due to the early season injury of Jeff George. He even led the Raiders to a win in his first start against the Arizona Cardinals 23-20

He would continue this run by winning three more games and bringing the Raiders to a 6-2 record. With that being said, however, Hollas would implode in the final eight games, losing four of the next five games and throwing 14 interceptions. In one of his final starts for the team, Hollas lost to The Dolphins 27-17 and threw 6 interceptions during that game, cementing him as one of the worst QB s in history

2. Aaron Brooks

Aaron Brooks was looking for a new start with the Raiders but never found much luck in California. In fact, in his first game against the San Diego Chargers, he was sacked nine times and lost 27-0. Things would only get worse from there, however, as he injured his shoulder in the second game of the season and was out for several weeks.

Brooks would return towards the end of the season, but never really thrived as a starter. In fact, that was the year that the Raiders went 2-14 and Brooks had only thrown 3 touchdowns to 8 interceptions.

3. Charlie Frye

How unlucky can one single man be? Charlie Frye started his career with all the promise in the world. In 2006, Frye signed a deal with the Raiders to be their quarterback. Unfortunately for him though, he was injured in his first game as a starter there and replaced by Jamarcus Russel. Frye down spiraled from there, throwing three interceptions, but somehow managing to win a game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Frye finished the season with 1 touchdown, four interceptions, and a passer rating of 65.3. As if that wasn t bad enough, Frye was forced into retirement the very next season after suffering an injury in training camp and would never play football again.

4. Marques Tuiasosopo

Believe it or not, Marques Tuiasosopo had one of the shortest and one of the worst careers in Raiders’ history. It all started when he was drafted by the Raiders in 2001 and while he would remain on the sideline for around two years, he would finally get significant playing time during a Monday Night football game in 2003 where he threw 226 yards in the second half.

While that might not sound like much, it was enough to secure him the starting job for the first time in his NFL career, which meant he would finally have his chance to show what he could do. Interestingly enough, all he could do was throw for 65 yards, one interception and manage to get injured before the end of the game, making him one of the worst quarterbacks in Raiders’ history.

5. Jamarcus Russell

How could we complete this list without including the man that is considered the biggest draft bust in NFL history? If nothing else, that s quite the moniker to hold for your entire life.  Someone worse may come along, but they would have to put up some crappy numbers. In fact, Jamarcus Russell is pretty much a failure as a quarterback in every sense of the word.

Let s start with the fact that he never has a completion rating above 55% and had a touchdown to interception ratio of 13-8. He also fumbled the ball 12 times during the season. He would follow that up by starting nine games, throwing three touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. This would mark the last time he would ever play in the NFL and make him one of the biggest busts in history.
