Your first visit to a dispensary can be quite a shock: Modern day dispensaries are a far cry from the rushed and paranoid transactions of the past. Most dispensaries in Vegas, for example, are adorned with bright and colorful art, staffed by a friendly receptionist, and offer a wider range of cannabis products than you knew existed.
Las Vegas dispensaries are wonderful, and once you get used to them they will offer you nothing but advantages over the more traditional but illicit market. Having said that, your first time visiting a dispensary can be an intimidating experience.
So in case you find yourself thinking of going to your first dispensary while visiting Las Vegas, let’s go over some tips that will prepare you and reduce any anxiety you may be feeling.
Bring Your ID
Few things can ruin your trip to a Vegas dispensary, but not having proper identification will get the door slammed on your face. Not literally, but you catch my drift. Nevada State regulations allow for both recreational and medical use of marijuana, but in both cases you will be required to present a valid, state-issued ID.
Be Patient
The dispensary experience is much different than buying weed illegally from your neighborhood dealer. Dispensaries are more laid back and often patrons will have extensive chats with the staff regarding their purchase. So set your expectations accordingly and be patient; you will have a much better time.
Bring Cash
Because of the current state of cannabis laws on a federal level, dispensaries in the state of Nevada are not allowed to accept cash in exchange for cannabis products. Some of the bigger dispensaries will have on-site ATM machines but don t count on that being the case everywhere.
Don t Smoke Outside The Dispensary
This is a big No-No! Many dispensaries around the country have actually been forced to close because unconscionable people would make their purchase and spark up as soon as they were outside. Legal marijuana is still a new industry and the laws are continuously changing, but for now, it s best to wait until you are home to consume your cannabis.
Be A Part Of The Community
Most dispensaries aim to become hubs for a thriving community, and Vegas dispensaries are no different. So stop thinking that these places are just stores that sell weed legally. Ask questions of the staff, these are passionate people and they will love talking shop with you. Sign up for available newsletters and participate in any programs offered. Have fun!
