5 Things Las Vegas Athletes Should Be Thankful For

Grab some leftovers and get ready to explore what Las Vegas athletes should be thankful for this Thanksgiving holiday

#5 Marc Andre Fleury staying with the Las Vegas Golden Knights

Marc Andre Fleury signed a three-year, $21 million contract with the Golden Knights during the offseason, which has to be the craziest decision the team has ever made. Not only is that evident by the team essentially wasting cap room that could net them better players, but also due to the fact that they are doing so for a backup goalie who didn t get them to the championship game.

Now, an argument could be made that the trade lit a fire under Robin Lehner s ass to become a better goalie, but you don t need to waste $21 million to do that!

#4 The Las Vegas Aces having an excuse on why they didn t win the title.

The Las Vegas Aces were swept in the WNBA Finals by the Seattle Storm this year, and while many are lamenting on what could have been, the Aces should be looking for a viable excuse as to why. Fortunately for the team, they have the fact that Liz Cambage and Kelsey Plum, who are two of their top stars, were sidelined this season.

If those two women were on the court during that series against Seattle, the results would have been very different.

#3 Kyle and Kurt Busch should be thankful to still be competing in the Cup Series.

Believe it or not, Kyle and Kurt Busch are actually very lucky to be in the Cup Series at this point in their careers. While that might seem a little absurd, especially since Kyle Busch just won his second championship one year ago, it becomes a game of what have you done for me lately. Unfortunately for Kyle Busch, he hasn t gotten a lot accomplished for his team lately.

Sure, he won at Texas Motor Speedway to end his 33-race winless streak and made it into the playoffs on points, but he was nowhere near the dominant figure that he was. As for Kurt Busch, he is steadily dropping in performance as well and could be overtaken by a youth movement at Chip Gannassi Racing any day now.

Both Busch brothers are reaching the final stretch of their career.

#2 Raiders fans should be thankful that they are alive and well

Let s be honest here. It absolutely sucks that fans have not been able to watch the Raiders play in Allegiant Stadium yet, and this is not how anyone wanted this season to start. All that aside, though, keeping the stadium empty is one of many preventive measures to stop the spread of the virus, helping to keep Las Vegas safer.

#1 Derek Carr should be thankful Gruden hasn t benched him yet

While benching Derek Carr would be the definition of insanity at this point in the season, a growing minority of fans believe the young Quarterback is the team’s biggest issue. Seriously though, people flock to social media to criticize Carr en masse. There are dedicated discussion threads on the matter.
