5 Steps Toward Creating a Las Vegas Raiders Super Team

What are the chances of the Las Vegas Raiders building a super team like this in 2021?

#5 Get Bill Belichick

As crazy as this might sound, one must remember that Bill Belichick isn t in that great of a position right now. Sure, he s sitting cozy on millions of dollars and a secure job, but he no longer has the super team he once lorded over. In fact, the Patriots went 7-9 in 2020 and were eliminated from playoff contention relatively quickly. Even worse, though, is the fact that the Cam Newton experiment has failed.

With that being said, Belichick needs to jump ship and join up with the underdog Las Vegas Raiders. Not only would this give the Las Vegas Raiders an expert play-caller at the helm, but he will also have pull over who goes to Vegas in free agency. If nothing else, this would be a match made in heaven.

#4 Find a way to keep Nelson Agholor

Nelson Agholor might be looking to dip his toes into the free agency pool, which is why the Raiders need to present him with a phenomenal offer to keep him. Now, some might think he hasn t proven himself at the wide receiver position, especially after having problems early in the season. Still, he’s become a favorite of Derek Carr and Marcus Mariota.

Furthermore, Agholor is a guy that can get open deep down the field, which allows the quarterback to go into gunslinger mode. Again, some believe that Agholor isn’t up to par, but he was one of the positive points of the 2020 season. It was a promising sign of what could be if the Raiders would invest in him a little more.

#3 Get JJ Watt

A big part of the Raiders’ future will depend on what they do on defense, which is why they need to make some tough decisions. Unfortunately for Carl Nassib, that hard decision would be to bench him and acquire JJ Watt in a trade. At least that way, Watt can be with a championship-caliber team again, the defense has a veteran leadership behind them, and the Raiders can finally start to fix their problems on defense.

#2 Make Marcus Mariota the starter

As much as some people want to keep their faith in Derek Carr as the quarterback going forward, Marcus Mariota seems to have more going for him. Furthermore, Mariota has a run game that would really help Josh Jacobs and move the ball a lot more efficiently. Again, it s a tough decision to make, but it really feels like Mariota will be more fruitful over time.

Of course, Mariota has some injury issues to overcome and will be playing a very dangerous style of football, but he is just a better quarterback than Carr. The future lies with Mariota.

#1 Find a backup for Joshua Jacobs.

Josh Jacobs is one of the best running backs in the league now, but he can t carry the load on his own. Of course, one would think that Carr could have helped carry that load with his passing game but, that never really ended up happening. With that in mind, it’s becoming obvious that Jacobs is going to need backup to take the stress off him.

Now, some of that pressure will be relieved if Mariota ends up being the starter for the Raiders, but they also need to bring a new running back on board. Whether that turns out to be Todd Gurley, Kenyan Drake or someone else remains to be seen, but Jacobs is going to need help. Otherwise, he is just going to burn out like most of the other running backs in the league.
