5 Reasons the Las Vegas Raiders Aren’t Playoff Ready

Will the Las Vegas Raiders succeed in the playoffs? That’s the question we have been trying to answer for several weeks now and while we usually look at the positive side of things, this week we will be flipping the coin. This week, we will discuss five reasons that the Las Vegas Raiders are not playoff ready.

1. Derek Carr’s inconsistency

When you look at a quarterback like Derek Carr, you see a man that is very consistent at his job. The problem, however, is the fact that he needs to be more than just consistent to make the playoffs.

Think about it! Carr might be a good quarterback. Heck, he might even be an upper-tier quarterback in some eyes, but he is not someone that is going to take the Las Vegas Raiders all the way.

2. The Las Vegas defense

It s no secret that the Las Vegas Raiders had one of the worst defenses in the entire league last season and while they were sometimes able to scrap a win together, they also managed bungle several key games.  The defense needs some major improvements if they are going to reach the deeper rounds of the playoffs and it doesn’t seem like they have made any of those yet.

3. Lackluster wide receiver core

Believe it or not, the Las Vegas Wide receiver core only accounted for 1893 yards, 22 touchdowns, and an average of 112.8 yards per game. Not only is that stories below where teams like the Tennessee Titans, the San Francisco 49ers, and the Kansas City Chiefs are, it starts to show just how ineffective of a wide receiver core that The Raiders have.

4. Subpar backup QB

Let s be honest here. As much as we want to tout Marcus Mariota as a true Heisman and someone that can take Derek Carr s job, that just doesn’t seem like reality at this point. The man hasn t even played a full season in the NFL without suffering some kind injury and doesn’t really have the kind of numbers that inspire confidence.

Unfortunately for the Raiders, that means if Derek Carr goes down, so does their chances of making the postseason.

5. Their 2020 schedule

Even if all the things listed in the previous pages don t bring down the Las Vegas Raiders, you can rest assured that they will be absolutely massacred during their 2020 schedule. Not only is that evident by facing the Panthers in the first week and the New Orleans Saints in the second week, but also by their week 5 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

And if the Raiders survive that obstacle-ridden journey, they’ll be knocked down by their two matchups against the Kansas City Chiefs.
