#5 Jayson Tatum over/under scoring in Game 5

It’s no secret that the Boston Celtics were down several players in their series against the Brooklyn Nets, creating a situation where Jayson Tatum had to put the team on his back.

Of course, he did so admirably, scoring  50 points in Game 4 and 32 points in Game 5, but it wasn’t enough to lift the team past the Brooklyn Nets. It also wasn’t enough to cover the over for FanDuel’s 33.5 scoring prop bet on Tatum, leaving a lot of betters sour.

#4 Big 3 comes up short in game against Celtics

The Brooklyn Nets are nothing short of a superteam at this point, and very little will stop them from winning a championship if they keep dominating like this. Then again, some of the Net’s victory has to be attributed to the plethora of injuries, including Jaylen Brown, Kembra Walker, and Robert Williams III, who were all key contributors to the team.

With that being said, the series looked to be such an easy win for the Nets that Draft Kings decided to take action on whether Brooklyn’s big three could each score 20 points in Game 2 of the series. Unfortunately for those that took the site up on that prop bet, Kyrie Irving came up 5 points short of the total. Now, they still won the game and took a 2-0 lead over the struggling Boston Celtics, but it was a huge gut punch to gamblers betting on the Big 3.

#3 Ja Morant over/under 7.5 assists in Game 5

Don’t bet against Ja Morant. That’s exactly what those who bet the under on this bet found out in Game 5 of the Memphis Grizzlies versus Utah Jazz playoff series.

He put up 27 points in their  126-110 loss to the Jazz with 11 assists. Again, it wasn’t enough to save the Grizzlies from being eliminated, but at least people made some money if they bet the over on Morant that night.

#2 Damian Lillard goes over on assists in Game 5

While some players came up short on prop bets during the opening round of the NBA playoffs, others rose above expectations and helped some gamblers get some money in the process.

One example of this is Portland Trailblazers guard Damian Lillard, who was given an over-under of 8.5 assists for Game 5 against the Denver Nuggets and ended up with 10 before the night was over. He also notched a double-double with 52 points and 6 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to win his team the game.

#1 Ben Simmons Over/under 9.5 assists in Game 5

Let’s be honest here. Why would anyone bet the under on Bill Simmons getting to 9.5 assists?

Not only would that have been next to impossible with Joel Embiid out due to a meniscus injury, but also due to how consistent Simmons is in this stat category.  Now, that doesn’t mean he hasn’t had a bad game or two during his player series against the Wizards, but he is usually someone that can find a player for an open shot.

He was also someone with an extra workload due to the aforementioned Emiid injury, making it almost impossible for him not to have gone over in this situation.
