#5 Dearica Hamby (Las Vegas Aces Forward)
While Dearica Hamby has gotten some respect in the eyes of the Las Vegas sports world, she seems to get overshadowed by many of her all-star teammates. In fact, between A ja Wilson, Kelsey Plum, and Jackie Young, Hamby sometimes gets put on the backburner. She is a great performer though, and has the fourth-best points per game of anyone on the Las Vegas Aces.
Hamby might never be a star on the same level as Wilson or Plum, but she is becoming a cornerstone of this team.
#4 Las Vegas native Noah Gragson (NASCAR Xfinity Series driver)
Another Las Vegas athlete that remains relatively unnoticed is Xfinity Series driver Noah Gragson. He’s reached victory lane in The Xfinity Series seven times! One would think the time has come for the Las Vegas native to finally move up into the Cup Series full-time.
Gragson has finished no worse than 8th in the points at The Xfinity Series level. He’s now on his second part-time season in the Cup Series but doesn’t seem to have any solid finishes yet. Lack of immediate Cup success aside, Gragson seems like a shining example of the future of NASCAR. He just needs that one break-out win.
#3 Reily Smith (Las Vegas Golden Knights Right wing)
It s no secret that the Las Vegas Golden Knights had their worst seasons ever in 2021, but Reily Smith and a few others were shining lights during that time. As for Smith, he racked up 22 assists, 16 goals, and four game-winning goals last season. He was an anchor for the offense during their injury-plagued year and Las Vegas would be smart to keep him around for the foreseeable future.
#2 Logan Thompson (Las Vegas Golden Knights Goaltender)
While the Las Vegas Golden Knights had one of the worst goaltender situations in the league last season, that doesn t mean it was all doom and gloom. Logan Thompson still managed to make an impact.
The backup goalie actually managed to outperform Laurent Brossoit and Robin Lehner in some spots. He stood with a record of 10-5 by the end of the schedule and only let a total of 49 goals past him. Again, this was much better than Brossoit, who let a total of 62 goals past him in about the same amount of time.
Derek Carr (Las Vegas Raiders Quarterback)
Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr isn’t as popular as he should be. Now, that doesn’t mean he hasn’t endeared himself to the Las Vegas fanbase over his time there, but he seems to get abused in the national conversation. The sports media just never gives him a break, and it’s enraging!
The pundits are always talking about Tom Brady, Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, and Aaron Rodgers, but never offer the same respect to Carr. Keep in mind, that Carr was one of the leaders in passing yards last season, and that was without many of his key weapons. Why is the media so blind?
