5 Keys Plays in the Raiders’ Win Over the Kansas City Chiefs

The Las Vegas Raiders defeated defending Super Bowl champions the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday afternoon at Arrowhead Field. These are the five plays that sealed the Chiefs’ fate.

1. 59-yard pass to Nelson Agholor

Derek Carr has been criticized in the past for not coming through in critical situations, and it looked like that would again be the case during Sunday s game at Arrowhead Field. The Raiders were down 14-3 in the second quarter.

Although it looked like they would never overcome the deficit, Carr changed everything with a deep 59-yard pass to Nelson Agholor to put seven on the board. This gave the Raiders some breathing room on offense and also a chance to come back and win the game.

2. 5 -ard pass to Darren Wallner

What do you do when the Chiefs drive down the field and score on you again? Unfortunately for the Raiders, that was the situation they were forced to deal with after getting themselves back into the game just a drive earlier. What made the situation even worse, though, was that the Chiefs managed to score in seven plays.

With that being said, however, Carr and company managed to get the ball back and got to work on getting the game back in reach. This eventually resulted in a 5-yard touchdown pass from Carr to Wallner, and the Raiders were once again in range of the Chiefs. They would still need some help on defense, though, to win the game.

3. Forcing the Chiefs to punt

Believe it or not, the Las Vegas Raiders defense managed to force the Chiefs to punt late in the second half, and it seemed to change everything. Not only was that evident by the way that the Raiders would go on to score, (more on that later,) but also by the fact that this was the final lead change of the entire game.

The Raiders even got a sack on Mahones for good measure before they finally forced his team to punt the ball away. In the end, it was one of the first times that the defense has shown any life all season, and it is something that needs to continue if the Raiders are going to have any chance of making it to the playoffs.

4. 7-yard run by Josha Jacobs

Derek Carr might eventually be the one to lead the Raiders to the playoffs, but he will need a few key players around him to help make that happen. Undoubtedly, one of those men is Joshua Jacobs, who came up cloth for the Raiders in the third quarter with a seven-yard run up the middle to reach the endzone.

Of course, Carr set him up for the easy score after a 23-yard pass to Wallner that got them in the red zone, but it just proves how well the two complement each other. It also seems to point to the fact that the Raiders’ key to success depends on Carr and Jacob s ability to move the ball around during a game.

5. Jeff Heath interception

If there was one final sign that Patrick Mahomes would not be able to mount a comeback and stay undefeated, an interception late in the fourth quarter had to be just that. Unfortunately for Mahomes, he tried a deep throw to Travis Kelce to try to keep their game alive, but the ball was intercepted by Jeff Heath.

As if that wasn t enough of a sign, Joshua Jacobs ran in for score on the very next play, which pretty much resulted in the end of the game.
