#5 Kurt Busch focused on finishing strong for Chip Ganassi Racing

It’s no secret that Chip Ganassi Racing is selling all its assets to Trackhouse racing, ending Kurt Busch’s three-year tenure with the organization. It will also mark the 21st year that the Las Vegas native has competed at the Cup Series level, giving him not a lot of time left out on the track. Of course, Busch is now locked into a two-year contract with 23XI Racing, co-owned by Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordona, but who knows what will happen afterward.

With that being said, Kurt Busch ran up towards the front for most of the day during last Sunday’s race at Kansas Motor Speedway and even pulled off a 4th place finish! While the top-five finish is a prominent momentum builder for Busch next year, it means very little in the way of chasing a championship. That dream ended in the round of 12, where Busch was unceremoniously dumped out of the playoffs after having several bad days.  Fortunately for GCR, though, a top-five finish is a great way to go out on top. At least they stayed competitive to their dying day.

#4 Kenyan Drake drives it in for another six points

Kenyan Drake was expected to impact the Las Vegas Raiders the moment he stepped foot into the facility, and he has done that for the most part. He continued that on Sunday with a sweet little eight-yard run for another Raiders touchdown. The best part was him powering through the Eagle’s defense and knocking another player on the ground to score the six points. If nothing else, it just proved how powerful the Raiders’ run game is right now.

#3 Josh Jacobs makes two men miss to put the Las Vegas Raiders up by six

Joshua Jacobs continues to impress since returning from injury, and that trend continued on Sunday when he made two men miss to reach the endzone and put the Las Vegas Raiders up by six. While Jacobs hasn’t been pulling off significant gains this season, he is excellent at punching it in when it comes to the RedZone.  He also managed three catches for 39 yards, giving him an average of 13 yards a play and giving Derek Carr another excellent target.

#2 Laurent Brossoit shows promise in second start for Las Vegas Golden Knights

The Las Vegas Golden Knights went 1-4 in their first five games of the season but are now on a two-game winning streak after defeating the Dallas Stars 3-2 in overtime. Furthermore, Laurent Brossoit made his second start of the season and fended off 34 shots throughout the game. He only let two of those enter the net and showed that the new backup is reliable when needed. Whether he is a suitable backup for Robin Lehner remains to be seen, but there is something there.

#1 Derek Carr comes up clutch on 4th and one with a pass to Bryan Edwards

Las Vegas Raider Quarterback Derek Carr has been accused of doing many things throughout his NFL career, but choking during big moments was always one of them.  Fast forward to 2021, however, and that doesn’t seem to be that much of a problem anymore. Carr managed to lob a pass to Bryan Edwards on 4th and one at the goal line, allowing them to put points on the board again. If that was a younger Derek Carr, one must wonder if that play during the Eagles game would have turned out the same way. Choking doesn’t seem to be a problem for the new Derek Carr.
